carbureted prochager setup

im thinking of going with a procharger p1sc setup with a carb, just wondering how hard a system like this is to tune, and whats the best price around for the p1sc kit? also will i be able to keep my power steering? also who sells blow through carbs? im thinking of going with about an 8 to 1 sbc 383 with maybe afr heads no clue on the cam or anything yet, its in an 85 with a built 700r4, and im aiming for about 500 rwhp

Demon sells ready to go blow-through carbs for $550 range. CSU,The Carb Shop and SDCE sell and make thier own blow-though set-ups.

500hp is kind of conservative......if you can afford the bottom end parts, you can make way more power than that lol......

It's not that hard to tune, just a little different than what you might be used to.......My blow through carb is from the carb shop and i like it alot, lots of people like csu and C+S too.......

Yes you can keep your power steering, i think procharger sells the setup as part of the kit (it might be an option)

Procharger also tells you how to do it yourself. Just follow their instructions and it's a snap. I've done mine. As far as tuning, it's no more difficult than a regular carb, but oohhh so much more fun to test drive.

if you dont want to modify your own carb, CSU i the way to go. Kevin is the man. If you tell him your setup and goals, most of the time you can just bolt it on straight out of the box from them and its almost spot on, those guys know what theyre doing.

seriosuly, procharger knows how make a supercharger, and thats about it......they're as dumb as a post when it comes to anything else........i'd stick to the specialty companies that use their products for knowledge base

Re: carbureted prochager setup

thanks for all the replys guys, and i know 500 is conservative but i want this thing to be reliable and last, ok so where is the best place to but a procharger? most likely going to go with the p1sc, and id like it to be pretty much a complete kit that leaves lots of parts gathering and guess work out, so where should i look?

with 8:1 and pump gas you should be fine with 9-10 psi non intercooled anc carbed.

Re: carbureted prochager setup

call bob at Exotic Performance Plus , he'll hook you up with the best deal and has awesome customer service. I bought my P1sc from them and have been quite pleased.

On an 8:1 blow-thru carb w/ aluminum heads you can safely get away with 12-14 lbs of boost w/ 93 octane.

12 to 14 lbs without an intercooler? is there like a point of diminishing return without an intercooler?

only if your limited by pump gas, but everything would benefit from intercooling/methanol injection
