procharger air filter
i was wondering if i bought the plastic air filter intake off the procharger on the 07 mustang, it would react more tolds a cold air intake than the regular setup for our cars. here is pic the plastic piece off the procharger.

Re: procharger air filter
i am just trying to avoid having hot air intake, maybe make a metal box around the air filter to make it more of a cold air intake.

Re: procharger air filter
wow that looks like it would be a nice piece........it gets CRAZY hot in there though, i wonder if you'd be able to even do that without a heat shield in a third gen........i mean i think my blower itself gets hot enough to melt most plastic, nevermind the headers.
my other concern is that especially if got soft when hot.......would my f1-r suck hard enough to collapse that?? I know the technicians at ATI feel strongly that the air filter shouldnt even be used on F1's because it will collapse them over time.

No filter? What?

If filter collapse is an issue, get a bigger filter or route it to an area where you can get a bigger filter.
Could always run something like another member on this board used to. Just a little bit of mandrel bends and a welder. Would be even better with a bit of powdercoating.

That doesn't look like it but most newer plastics are strong enough to withstand high heat apps. AKA Composite intake manifolds on almost everything on the road now.

its the huge cone filter.......seriously, they don't want you to put a filter on it......a screen for leaves and stuff at the most......thats for the F-series blowers though, which are RARELY used on street cars anyways.....most race cars don't use an air filter anyhow.
the blower moves so much air, that even the K&N filter is a huge restriction, and creates a vacuum in the inlet......its strong enough that i've lost 2 air-side output shaft seals from it.......and had blower oil sucked into the intercooler
