Re: roots blower help

I do believe they make ones like this that will work off a serpentine belt...then your carb sits on top. Plan on buying a cowl hood or something too. I am looking at the exact same thing for my car, I was going to get a procharger but then you need to have a blow through carb and there is issues of it running rich at idle. Here is link! http://www.strippermotorsports.com/we142susyro1.html

Re: roots blower help

You could check out weiand's stuff at http://www.holley.com/division/Weiand.asp#11 , or Weiand's catalog at http://www.holley.com/data/Catalogs/Superchargers.pdf . The catalog's kinda fun to leaf through.

Re: roots blower help

One of the Weiand 144s will fit. I am running one on my old man's 383 77 vette with a serp setup from a 91. That thing is a blast. Call Summit they well set you up. I may be able to find the part number also. It was EASY. Needed a 6" cowl though.

Re: roots blower help

Dave- got a part number on that one? Wonder if it's the standard long nose version or the "super long nose" version.

Re: roots blower help

If you REALLY insist on staying with a serpentine type setup, you could always purchase an aftermarket setup like a Billet Specialties Tru Trac Pulley System, and get a Magnuson blower....they even have instructions in their install manual on adapting that system to their superchargers. Of course, it'll probably end up adding about 1K to the cost of everything when it's all said and done (but I haven't added it up).

Personally, -V-belts have been used on cars for the better part of a century, and are pretty darn reliable and easy to find. You might be able to find a way to adapt any roots blower to your stock '89 serpentine system....but It wouldn't be a limiting factor (for me anyway) in deciding whether to get a blower or not...just MO..

If you give Weiand or Summit a call as DAVECS1 said....they may have a solution for you.
