Cool wish him luck with the project. I wonder how much these v-6's can handle and how long? I am guessing he didn't want turbo's from ssautochrome? haha

Re: TT V6 camaro & TT V6 firebird

i attempted to run my car last night on the single turbo setup,i had just completed the install of megasquirt standalone ems a few hours prior to running the car.
roll the car into the burnout box start my burnout and the motor pulls 1st gear to 7k and i upshift to 2nd motor pulled right to 6,500.i stage the car and bring the motor upto 25-2700 with 4 psi showing.launch and ive got instant 7 psi. pulls right threw first and when i upshift into 2nd and hear the motor pinging right before i could lift it blows the intake pipe off

i notice my duty cycle was over 120% and the car was smoking black so i leaned out the motor a bit.and go up for my second pass
same thing again nice threw the burnout stage the car and leave @ 3k with 5-6 psi this time car rips threw 1st hits 2nd and blows the pipe off again.but atleast it didnt ping and knock this time

i havent had a chance to look at my datalogs from the second pass but the car felt alot stronger threw first.need to get mny battery charger for my laptop so i can see what the data logs say.

Lets hope everything is ok. This might be a common question for you but what internals do you have in your motor?

Re: TT V6 camaro & TT V6 firebird

its a bone stock junkyard motor, i have a fully built 3.1 going in the car soon, but im using this junk motor to setup a base tune so i dont have to worry about breaking my new motor.

im just actually very happy i didnt break the driveshaft or the rear with the slicks on the car

Re: TT V6 camaro & TT V6 firebird

I'm watching this car with great interest!

About the "laptop charger"...I used to only be able to tune for 15 minutes at a time. That = no good.

On ebay, I bought a kit that comes with a "cigarette lighter->black box->laptop" charger. It also came with a cable for airplane 12v hookups. About $20 before shipping. I searched for "(laptop model) car charger"

Well, I just cut up the airplane cable, mounted the black box(with a zip tie), hardwired it to my car's 12V and voila. Never have a dead lappy in the car again. It'll still draw power(very small amout) even if no lappy is attached, so keep that in mind.

Wow that motor is holding up pretty well. Then again I have read and heard of 300hp shot of nitrous on stock 350's that hold up.

Remember, though, these 60* motors came with powder forged rods, and later with a steel crank rated to 7200 RPM.

I had my car back together last week and had a detonation ping that sounded like a cannon, only hurting a bearing .

I have a pic somewhere of a stock 60* rod shaped like an "S" after water got into the cyl, and the car was still running!
EDIT:
Found them...
