749 ECM with 8-10 psi boost
I am planning on running a 5.7 TPI single turbo setup with the 749 ECM. My question is if the standard $58 code (with the 8 cylinder constant) will be close as far as VE tables go?
Another question I have is about the 749's wastegate functionality. Does wire up to any electronic boost controller device?

i am by no means a pro on this, i have only started learning about. anyway, it seems that you can use the delco wastegate solenoid the run an external gate. as for the VE tables, i doubt it depending on your engine build.

Thanks for the reply. You are correct about the VE tables.
I used the megatune program to create a VE table based on estimated TQ and HP, while this is only an estimate it was clearly different that the stock table. I'll probably use megatune table values as a starting point.

I am also planning to use a Master Power T70. I would like room to grow, and this turbo should do the trick. I'm with you on the learning part, I have been reading and reading and I am finally starting to understand this turbo and ECU stuff.
I have been tempted to go the megasquirt route too, but I already bought a 749 from someone on this board. So I'm going to give it a shot.

i was going to buy a '749, but it seems that the '730 with the $58 mask works just the same. im thinking once it all goes together, that i will use the $59 mask thats out there. im not into the megasquirt. for some reason or another, i only like the GM stuff. i guess cause its tried and true, and retains outputs like TCC, A/C, ect.

yeah, I read a thread that you replied to on turbomustangs along with the grenade thread and that's why I decided to go with TPI. I hadn't considered TPI until I read how much power was being made with a turbo, unbelievable.
I should be getting my 749 tomorrow and I ordered the V8 memcal so I should be in good shape for getting this thing together. This setup is going in my 69 Camaro.

Either the 730 or 749 ECM will work with the Syclone $58 code. The two ECMs are the same on the inside. The 749 has one extra fuel injector driver so it can drive Peak and Hold injectors. The 749 is missing one quad output driver for relays & solenoids.
What does all that mean? It means that if you are using saturated injectors (stock TPI type) then you can use a 730 ECM with the $58 boost code. If you are using Peak and Hold injectors and a V6 or V8 then you need a 749 ECM.
For a while I was switching back and fourth using the $8D and $58 code in a 730 ECM with saturated 42#/hr injectors.
