Procharger Intercoolers

Hey everyone, ive been reading a lot and it seems that with the 3core intercooler setup on my camaro will cause it to run hotter than it would with the twin intercooler setup because it blocks the flow to the radiator....

i was wondering, if i put an aftermarket radiator and some high flowing fans would that keep my car running at about 180* during the summer heat like it is now? i havent seen any articles about people upgrading the cooling system to make up for the restriction of airflow through the radiator because of the intercooler

ok now i feel stupid i thought the intercooler was mounted up in front of the radiator.

how hard would it be to do custom plumbing to put the intercooler in front of the radiator?

ATI's three core intercooler does go in front of the radiator.

Several guys adapted a twin intercooler setup from the
93-97 cars I believe to our cars. They developed the kit themselves. I don't know if ATI was smart enough
TO PICK UP ON THIS BUT DO A SEARCH AND YOU'LL FIND IT.

yeah see i would be worried about the intercooler getting tore up by rocks, and blocking the airdam.

has anyone ever routed the intercooler to be right in front of the radiator?

The only thing that will hit that is small pets and curbs unless 4x4ing is your thing lol.

If you look around I believe there are some guys that installed the intercooler right infront of the rad, since you have a camaro that is something you can do but I believe they might have used a custom intercooler and a lot of modding. Where it is in that pic is where it supost to be installed from ATI instructions.

Another good option is the dual intercooler setup that I believe willie has in one of those stickys, if you live in a place where it is hot all the time then that's something you might want to get.

That pic is in front of the radiator and it is blocking airflow to it. I'll bet it still works well for TONY way north like he is.

umm... im pretty sure that the intercooler isnt in front of the radiator on his car... its exactly like the dual intercooler setup, except in the middle of the underneath of the car... right in front of the airdam.

i was wanting to mount my intercooler somewhere around here

right in front of the radiator up against it, behinde the chevrolet symbol

Is there a price differance for the twin intercooler option? I was on the phone with Procharger pricing out a system the other day but forgot to ask.

I mounted mine right in front of the radiator. I didn't have to do much fab work either, but it was pretty snug. I plan on mounting it in the same position again. Since you have a camaro, it should get more air than my TA too.

What are the dimensions of your intercooler?

If heat is your concern then mounting directly in front of the radiator won't be much better than the airdam location.
Obviously mine isn't the Procharger IC, but I can tell you that there should be plenty of room for it here with a few minor mods (you should be able to keep the center piece though, I just cut mine out for better flow). That'll let the radiator breathe like stock.

I mounted mine in front of my radiator. I cut the hood latch support out and mounted one directly between the frame rail ends and the fabbed up a custom latch support.

I also had two pusher fans in front of the rad. and one on the intercooler.

I had some cooling issues but they were not from the rad/ic setup!

I have also had the 3 core procharger ic, I never had any heating issues with it.
I live in Utah where its over 100 during the summer, and I never noticed it running hotter with the ic up there.

just put a good radiator in it with a good fan and I think you will be fine.

the one thing I did notice that made the car run hotter was plumbing the bypass valve back into the air cleaner the way procharger tells you to.

If you call Procharger and ask for Dorian, he may be able to hook you up with the twin hi-flows. I know he worked with Willie on this, and i believe you can purchase everything.
