what would be considered streetable?

I am thinking of building up a 383 to go w/ a 12psi Procharger that I have. I plan to drive the car on the street a lot. I am also going to build up the trans. To build the TH700 to handle the power I have been told that it will not be very streetable. I was told that the type of converter I should get will not hold up to street use. Any opinions on how much power can be made and still be extremly streetable

Im running 11.8s on my stock JASPER trans with a stock converter..I drive the car to work and on the street , no problem..I have about 270 runs at the track with trans and it still works good, not to mention occasional street racing...but its probably just a Fluke, I didnt expect the trans to last that long............87 fomula 383 ,,150 NOS 3.70 rear
