Twin Turbo LS6 project questons

Haven't been on the site in a while, looks great! Well, I've been looking into a power adder for my 87 camaro LS1 project and decided that Twin turbo's would be a cool way to make serious power. Currently I have the fuel system complete, the LSX mounts installed, most of the wiring is complete, all new polyurethane bushings, Spohn suspension parts and Baer 4-wheel disc brakes. I haven't bought the motor or transmission yet but I do have the money to get everything I need. Basically what I want to know is who makes an LS1 kit that I could modify to fit my third gen or what kind of turbo's would I need to get this thing going? Maybe someone could direct me to a tech page in which I could do more research. Also post some pics of third gen LS1 turbo cars so I can get an idea of how things are routed. Thanks,

I'm clueless about turbos, but if you cant find any help here, head over to the 1s1 tech forums.

I think it would be cheaper if you did a D.I.Y. kit. why pay $4000 for a kit that your gonna have to chop up

Hi Flo has some nice turbo manifold that may work on a thirdgen

I'm using 6.0L aluminum heads, the LS6 block will be plenty stout enough for what I want although the truck cast iron 6.0L would be a good, strong base for this set-up. I'll stick with aluminum for now

Because they don't make a custom kit for an LSX powered third gen, I have no problem paying $4,000.00 for a complete kit that will work with a few modifications. If I had access to a fab shop then I'd build my own but unfortunately I don't. I'm also looking for a fairly easy set-up that is built to spec for an LS1..

You're going to pay more then $4K for someone to fab up a custom TT setup, and I seriously doubt that you'll find a 4th gen setup that you can just move a few things around and use since 4th gen and 3rd gen cars have room in different places. 4th gen kits typically take advantage of the only open space that they have in their engine bays which is down low between the radiator and the engine, where in 3rd gens that space is used by the steering gear/center link...

I also have to agree with using only one turbo. When you think about it after putting on one turbo everyone always needs to retune their car and it can be difficult to get it set just right just to do a 1/4 mile run let alone all day driving on the street, highway, start and stop driving. Now think about that mess, but add another turbo. Sure it sounds cool to say that you have a twin turbo, but it really isn't necessary for street driving because of the amount of boost you would be pushing. A highly modified car that is twin turboed is most likely just for the track because it is too difficult to dial it in to drive everyday. With that all being said, go prove me wrong and do it.

Larger turbos tend to be proportionately more efficient, smaller turbos tend to spool proportionately faster. Past that the biggest difference between the 2 is packaging.

I don’t see any reason why one would be any more difficult to tune the other, since you tune for intake pressure/rpm and it doesn’t really matter that intake pressure might go up a little faster with the twins then the single, since you just tune for existing conditions.

In most cases twins are just a pain to package, and are rarely justified on something like a V8 WRT to the speed at which they spool since usually you have plenty of exhaust pressure to spool up the single to built boost as fast as you can use it.
