there were two made by callaway(ones in the superspeedster, and the other is in a 1994 sleeper car) the motor work cost 70,000 bux and that was just for the motor. It made 777 hp at 12 psi boost but the motor was built to handle 18-20psi so i could easily be made to have 1000 hp

Mallet Motorsports made a twin-turbo LT-5 about 6 or 7 years ago for a customer who wanted to set a world speed record for a doorslammer (third gen still has that record).
The motor was rated around 950hp, with some really exotic stuff: titanium rods, big bore block... Cost a fortune for the motor. They also lightened the car to about 3000lbs using a lot of carbon fiber. They put some nasty looking aerodynamic pieces on the car, including a big wing that looked like the one on an F40 Ferrari.
I never heard anything about the car since, mostly because the car had no chance of reaching 300mph, where the record is. The reason I say this is because the Sledgehammer Vette only went 254mph with 900hp using the better than stock Callaway aerobody. These jokers added all sorts of stupid parts that probably made the car slower than using the stock body panels.
Anyway, why bother with an LT-5? You can make the same power at lower rpms using a turbo on a 406 or 420 and don't have to rev the pee out of it.

The smart person pays for something today so that more is received tomorrow.
The ignorant person gets something today and hopes to have enough money to pay for it tomorrow.
