Man am I ever TO'd with my self for not installing a FMIC when I had my whole car apart for painted. I run two small Ford Probe ICs mounted in front of each wheel, and I think they've got to be a rstriction for me.
You install looks very nice BTW.

Re: got the intercooler mounted.....
Sorry to dig up an old post. But this is exactly what I am currently doing with the exact same intercooler. My question is, how did you determine where to mount the IC on the core support, meaning it's not to high vertically nor is it mounted so low that it's dragging on the ground or is it? I also noticed you don't have it purely straight up and down but more angled forward towards the bumper cover? I am currently scratching my head because the IC is larger than the radiator opening and I'm having a real difficult time deciding where and how to mount it with the most airflow and greatest ground clearence. My car is hammered on the ground and speed bumps and the car don't play well together I'd hate to waste a perfectly good IC.

it doesnt hang down that low really.....its still higher than the bottom of the air damn.
the IC isnt' mounted on the core support, if you look a the pics of the mounts i made for it, its actually mounted on the front frame horns where the bumper support attaches.....it sits between those 2 frame members. the angle does 2 things, gives it a little better clearance where it sits, and it also sits at approximately the same angle as the radiator.
To find the spot (which thank god came out PERFECT) i first took off the nose, made that new bumper support in the pics, then put the nose back on the car loose, and propped the IC up in there and measured....and measured....and measured......and stood back and looked at the alignment in the hole of the bumper cover. you should find the hole in the bumper cover is almost precisely the same size as the core. i got it situated where i wanted it, then took the nose back off and fabbed up the mounts......i endedup putting one brace that goes back to the core support so it didnt bounce around.
where it sits on my car, its a few inches in front of the air dam

Here is a link to my cardomain page. Check out the inlet or outlet depending which way the air is going. It interfers with the bracket that supports the headlights. 383 what did you do about this?

I mounted the IC a touch lower than that, and went underneath the headlight bracket......didnt even fool with it.....then cut a hole in the sheet metal......my tubing as a slightly more than 90deg elbow that comes right off the IC outlet, and goes through a hole i cute just below the headlight bracket

Re: got the intercooler mounted.....
Tell me about it, here's how I handled that...
Please ignore the bailing wire brackets, just temp for a mock up
383backinblack, nice ride and nice job! I do wish the Firbirds had a grille opening, but then it might take away from the "bullet" look of the car .
Man, If I had a place to work on my car like you (besides my driveway/garage), hmmm...

Re: got the intercooler mounted.....
the bottom of the IC sits about half way down the height of the air dam, so its really not that low at all to tell you the truth......
my exhaust would hit long before the IC would, and i have a good 3-4" there

Re: got the intercooler mounted.....
I decided to send the 3 core with 3" inlet/outlets back to procharger. I am going to step up the 1300hp version with 3.5" inlet/outlet. This unit seems to give a little more ground clearance and it has the outlets I wanted anyways.

I know this is an old post but I am doing this same intercooler right now. Is there anything you'd do differently?

I saw your car on YB.com and I noticed that your incoming pipe to the cooler looks to be smaller than the one coming out. Is there and advantage to that?

Re: got the intercooler mounted.....
It was only done this way because we couldn't get a tight enough radius on the 3.5" tubing

Re: got the intercooler mounted.....
Thanks. Did you have any problems with it hitting the inner fender? I can't install mine because it hits. The paint is fairly new in the engine compartment and I don't want to beat it up.
