the VORTECH is in the mail!!!!!!!!!!!

As of today, I am almost the proud owner of a Vortech S-Trim. It is in the mail. I will be paying by COD this week, so unless there is a major problem, I will have it soon. I got it used from a guy w/ 80 passes on it and only a few miles. He said it put his stock L98 toa 12.4 and w/ little mods like TB and whatnot, it hit an 11.8. w/ a 10lb pulley. The car pulled 10's w/ the 15lb pulley, 44lb injectors and some extensive motor mods (head work, cam, etc.), but it was only a 355. I have a motor that's almost identical to what he ran, so I guess I'll be in the 11's pretty easily w/ 10lbs. probaly 11.7's or 11.8's. My car is close to the 12's NA. I'm very excited and can't wait to install it. The guy I'm getting it from is real nice, and he is gonnna help me w/ any trouble I may have. the kit includes both pulleys and some xtras like a HKS race bypass, braided line, cutom ducting, etc. Welcome me to the Culb!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Also, I'm runnning 9.3 comp w/ flat top TRW forged pistons, so I hope it'll hold up to 10lbs boost. take a look at my website, let me know what you thhink. Do you think I'll have to run a 7lb pulley untill I lower the compressio? Also, I don't have ringed head gaskets. I don't want to pop them.

You should be just fine with the 10# puley. Just make sure you use diacom or something so you can keep an eye on your o2 sensor and make sure that it doesnt lean out.

Did you by chance by it from someone in Indiana?

No, he's not in Indiana. he's in Deleware. I will be converting shortly, as soon as I find a donor car. He will be giving me some pulleys w/ the sc. I'm sure I will have a lot of questions for you guys, so I'll keep you updated. Are you sure I won't blow the head gaskets? I've been thinking about getting one for a long time now as you know. I'm glad the time has come. thanks guys

I think you will be fine. That is the compression I am running. And you have forged pistons so I think you should be safe.

All I can stress is that you keep an eye on your air/fuel and make sure it isnt leaning out or richening. Both can be dangerous. Lean you can bust a piston. Rich you can wash out the rings and be in just as bad a situation fowling plugs and using oil.

Justin, good luck with the Blower. I know Donny(and was thinking about buying the blower, but you beat me too it).The blower is in great shape, and the mileage is right. His car did run great, and 9.3:1 is good for the 10# pulley.Another frined of ours is running 15#'s of boost with about the same compression as you have.
Ill stick with my nitrous for now,and probably get a blower this coming winter.

what do you guys think about fuel requirements? I have 26lb inj, a FMU will be installed, AFPR and in car and under hood fuel pressure gauges. Will I be okay or do I need a pump? If so, what kind?????

i would recommend at least a 255 lph in tank, that should be fine. I think they are rated for up to 600hp(i think).

Do you think the inline pump they sell for $170 is good enough? It's a lot easier to work with. BTW, the blower is in my hands now, and it looks awesome. Lots of great custom stuff done to it. Also, the guy is sending an alt., water pump and some other stuff for the accessory drive swap! check out my new sig

The inline pump should be pretty good for you. I would try it on the injectors that you have before you try the 26# ones. I had #30 injectors with AFR heads, a mini ram, blower cam and 8 rib pullies @ 13psi and I ended up washing the rings on mine because the FMU boosted the fuel pressure so high. I had 30# injectors.
Thats why keeping an eye on your o2 is important.

So you're saying the 26's are too big, because I'm already running them.

You are already running 26# injectors?
Did you have your PROM setup to handle them correctly or did you just put them in and fly with it?

Hell give it a shot. *shrug*

I had a PROM burnt for my setup w/ 26 lb inj. I just don't want to have to rebuild the motor anytime soon, I can't afford it. -Justin
