Retarded n00b oiling problem...

I feel really stupid for asking this, but what is the 'proper' way to hook up a -3an line? Right now, I've got like 4 adapters to go from a male -3an hookup on the turbo, to a 1/4" hose, to a 1/4" metal line.

Can I change my oil feed line, to a 3/16" hard line (I'm talking the steel brake line you buy at the auto parts store) and use a -3an tube nut? Do i need to flare the hard line first, or anything?

What the heck are the tube sleeves for?

Sorry for probably the dumbest question ever, but sheer inexperience is kicking my rear here. I really want to rebuild my oil feed line, convert it to 3/16", and not have so many adapters. Key is, I need it to go 90º right off the adapter, if possible.

why do you want to convert to a bigger line ? You got a preasure issue ?

There is a sticky up there on oil feedlines It may help you more.

No, I'm 1/4" hard line into adapters into -3an - I want to go with a 3/16" hardline, straight to the -3an. I'll check out the stickies...

Not that I know what I am doing. I installed a 1/8 NPT to 1/4" SAE 45 degree flare (brake/gas line) at the oil fitting on the block. I ran 1/4" steel line (from autoparts store) to the turbo. At the turbo I ran a .060 hole oil restrictor that has 1/8" NPT threads. I made my own turbo oil inlets plates out of 5/16" steel plate at the turbo drilled & tapped for 1/8" NPT. Works fine with no leaks and not too much oil to the turbos so the seals don't blow oil into the exhaust.
Others have done it differently.
