Re: Project TWNTRBO updates

Thanks for the encouragement so far.

They do say "the devil is in the details", and I must agree. Everything except for the rod knock (which is major) involves mostly details, but all added up I think there is as much work left in it as I have in it so far.

I'm considering saving up for a WP Motown Lite aluminum block + new internals and some aluminum heads. That should take care of all of the issues including the detonation at 15+ psi, and it'd drop nearly 150 lbs from the front end! That's one expensive chunk of aluminum, though!

I'm looking at replacing my worn out beat down 11 sec. AWD Talon (ALLTRBO) with another nicer one to baby this time, so new TWNTRBO engine parts may take a while yet.

Re: Project TWNTRBO updates

LOL, I wouldn't mind that. We do have a grill, a stereo, and a reasonably sized backyard.
Honestly though, there isn't much nice to see, it's all worn out stuff that doesn't work right. :/ Well, except the trusty ol' GPZ1100, that one actually works. The current Fiero has no drivetrain and the other motorcycle (750 Turbo) doesn't run, the Talon needs desperate TLC and you all know about the IROC. *shrug*

Everyone's invited who wants to have a little thirdgen meet/barbecue, though!

Re: Project TWNTRBO updates

Well here it is, 2010, which only means one thing. IT'S LEGAL! Wow, 3 years flew by.

Anyway, here's my current dilemma. If anyone can help me out, it would be greatly appreciated...

https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/diy-prom/

Every vehicle I have has broken down except for my wife's car and my 2008 ZX-10R. I've been riding that to work through rain and snow. NOT fun, and very dangerous.

I will sell this '90 IROC-Z twin-turbo 350 6-speed for the right price. My health has killed my ability to fix anything in a timely manner.

Re: Project TWNTRBO updates

Definitely for sale now, my overall situation has hit fever pitch like never before. I wrecked and totaled my daily-driver motorcycle (low speeds, but it landed on me hard. Ouch). I need room and a big down-payment for new car that's going to arrive this week.

Updates from my last official are sketchy in my head right now, it's past bedtime and I'm getting a migraine. Hopefully that Midrin kicks in soon cause it's gonna hurt like hell in about 15 minutes. Anyway...

I don't believe anymore that it has a rod knock. Same noise, but ~2000 miles and several full throttle tire-shredding 700lb/ft sprints and an occasional run up to 120mph (on a closed track, of course) tells me that if it was a knock, it not only would have gotten worse, it would have freed the powdered metal rods from their captivity a long time ago. So, maybe a minor clutch clearance issue or something? I dunno at this point.
The headers and turbine housings need re-coated from residual moisture from sitting, but the car is still pretty much rust free.

I fixed the ECU issues AFAIK, and they were caused by wetness in various places in the ECU and adapter/chips from the recent heater core leak.
The heater core still leaks so I don't start it much, but I have a new replacement. In my troubleshooting for the ECU issues I had, I think limp-home mode fouled the plugs (47pph injectors with a 19pph limp home setup) so it misses now, but still runs.

Otherwise it's in pretty much the same condition as it has been, it was garaged much of the last few years.

Trailer it away or help me fix these issues and you can drive it home for $4000

Go over and read this thread. See what I've put into it. Time, money, effort, and heart. I'm giving this thing away, so someone please help me out and finish up my bad-**** TT IROC-Z and enjoy it as it deserves.

Again, $4000. If you can offer more, I'll take the highest offer. It would really help me out. :/

Re: Project TWNTRBO updates

That's me, and that's them (half of them anyway. I traded the rear 18's for more front 17's. Never liked the staggered look on thirdgens).
