Just Got my Twin turbos!!!!

Just got two TO3's and manifolds!!! Might put them on my pretty stock motor or just wait for my 355 buildup. Oil lines should be in next week, still need piping.

Wanted to know if i should use intercoolers, or wait and upgrade later?

Is the stock cam in a L98 ok for boost or should i install a new cam?

How should i route the piping ?

Heres a pic of them on my friends 305 to check for dimensions.

Are those blockhugger headers flipped upside down? I have wondered if that will work or not. As far as intercoolers go, they are always a good idea but not absolutely needed, especially with T3's on a 350. Those turbos will spool very fast and will be great for the street but wont move alot of air you shouldnt see alot of boost out of them and thus the air charge wont be heated so badly. Like I said, if you can, intercoolers are always a good idea but there are other methods of cooling the charge, like water cooling. Anyway, good luck with the setup and you may consider have your turbos modified into T3/T4 hybrids to move more air for that 350. That should be good for around 450-500 horsepower.

Why is there a superram on the floor and not on the motor?

That was Jesse's, alias; "bourneash", turbo kit right? I saw him selling the kit I made for him about a month ago on eBay.
When do you think you will have the car ready, those turbos are asking for action!

Keep the stock cam, it'll work fine. If you could get an intercooler get it, something that you can locate up front or where it can get some fresh air(front of A/C condenser). What are you going to do for the extra fuel? Going to run it at low boost for now?

I bought them from a guy on ebay that were made for a 88. But i should be fine putting them on my 91 as far as i know. The headers fit great and the down pipes are fine. But i dont think the wastegates are going to clear the superram on the pass side. Also the superram is sitting on the floor because this is not the motor its goning on. I building a 93' truck block 355, four bolt with forged internals and modified stock heads, still at the machine shop. But i had my friends 305 in my shop so i figured, What the hell, why not bolt it up to the 305. So i did just to give me a idea of how the will fit. I will take some more pics and post some of the headers tonight.

Does this seller rings a bell?
eBay's TT kit auction Is sad that that kit has not been installed yet after almost a year now from being fabricated. I also sold about 6 months ago a street & strip single turbo kit to guy which never saw any action since the guy later bought a big block, like "bourneash" he also offered the kit on eBay. Bourneash is regular here, I think that he heard from us thru this forum. I hope that you get your ride ready and enjoy the TT kit soon!
Take care!

Nice, I have the same kit. Don't worry Edgardo, I haven't flaked out, I've just been super busy getting the car ready for the turbos. I sold the '89 IROC to my dad to upgrade to a mint (almost identical) '90 IROC, built and installed a boost-friendly L98 for it, and did a T56 conversion along with a lot of other little stuff. Now I'm breaking in the engine and working on the full intercooler setup, hopefully I'll be boosting a little in a few short months, then 15 psi tuned shortly thereafter.

The stock '90-'92 L98 cams are good for boost, they have a decently wide LSA, though slightly less than the older L98 cams (114.5 vs 117). Either one will work plenty fine.

I'd always recommend intercooling unless you have another form of detonation control, like water or alky injection. I still like a big 'ol fat air-air IC better though, you don't have to refill it like the others. Or, just go with both.
If you decide not to intercool it at first, don't run too much boost (not that you can with stock internals anyway).

I'm routing my aluminum piping from both turbos with 2.25" piping into a 3" collector where the evap canister sits, then the 3" through there to the the 28x12x3 FMIC, then 3" up through the battery tray and over to the throttlebody. It'll be tight, but will fit.

As for the Superram I don't know if it will fit, but it looks unlikely to me. *shrug* I'm going with a Stealthram in the future and that shouldn't have any clearance problems.

Good luck!

Found two of these intercoolers and was wondering if they would be alright for my twin T3s. They were off a saab 900 and are 15 x 11 x 3.

Hi moneyman380,
It all started on my college days, by then the battle of four cylinders versus V8's where even more frequent on the streets and the "little guys" where starting to beat up the "bigger guys" more often, all of course with the comming of the turbocharger. One night a friend of mine and I started a friendly but hot discusion in front of almost all of our friends. He had by then a AWD turbo Talon and I knew deep in my guts that I was in trouble to keep up with my words. So we fixed up the race and so we raced, he left me on the dust! That was it! "If a lawnmower with a turbo can run like that I cannot imagine what a turbo V8 can do". Next thing you should know is that he's new buy, a tt Supra was no match for the GTA and fun was racing with speed bikes.

Steven, that sounds like areal good deal you just did

Mark, it sound like you're almost done, keep us updated, it looks killer!

PS moneyman380; those intercoolers look fine, use them.
