Super is easy install, less efficent - instant hp (no lag) somewhat cheap if you get a used one

turbo- difficult install- more effiecent, turbo lag, more more expensive

Yes the turbo will require more effort for installation, but they are more efficient as you said, and give you full boost quicker. With a modern, properly sized turbo, the lag is almost a non-issue. And once the turbo starts to spool, the boost comes in so fast that that it will spin the tires in lower gears. Supercharger boost comes in proportionally as the negine RPM increases, where the turbo can provide max boost as low as 2000-2500rpm.

Yeah if you punch it at 1500 rpm you will have lag.

I didn't say that turbos don't lag, just that when properly set-up it is a non-issue. Read my post again.

That just means that you stuck a turbo on something that didn’t have enough cubes in it to start with

Take a ride in mine. You wont feel any lag. With the right combo's (stall speed, turbo housing, ect.), you dont get lag, atleast you wont feel it.

It doesn't matter, lag happens. Supercharger is from idle to redline and turbo SIMPLY ISN"T.

No supercharger I ever seen provided boost at idle.

Hate to be rude, but it is pretty easy to see you have been misinformed/or have never driven a properly set-up turbo vehicle.

Boost at idle? What kind of supercharger are you talking about? (Roots or Centrifical?) A roots blower can make low rpm boost (not idle though) while a centrifical usually cant. Also a supercharger's boost is RPM related where a turbo is not. A turbo is load related, so if you could load an engine at low rpm you could get more boost unlike a supercharger.

That's what I've been telling people all along. It's not turbo lag, it's engine lag!

You bet. You should feel the lag on the 99 Civic Si I turbocharged this past summer (B16a2, Turbonetics kit). Its all engine lag- I mean stock it is pretty dead until 5500rpm! The T3/T4 turbo helped bring the beginning of the power band down to around 4k, but most people who would drive it would say it has severe turbo lag, when really it is the engine.

A poor fuel system can also create percieved turbo lag, especially in draw-thru carb systems.

For whoever said turboing a car is MORE expensive than supercharging, you are very misinformed. Yes, aftermarket top of the line kits are more expensive, but think of it this way.....you could EASILY fab a twin turbo kit using rebuilt junkyard turbo's and home welded headers for less than $1500 completely ready to ride, and it will beat the **** out of a box-stock POS centrifugal blower with a measely 5-8 psi. Not only that, but all you have to do to turn up the boost on a turbo charged back is turn a screw on the boost controller.

I just finished (well almost, few things left) putting twin turbo's on a 91 fox body mustang, and I put less than $600 into the entire kit including the turbos, although yes I did get a screaming deal on the volvo T3s. Most of the money was spent on miscellaneous crap like special tools, an oil pan tap, hose connectors, and stuff like that.

in my opinion supercharger is easy for begginers in the power adder world. and it will teach you quite a bit.
