DIY Vortech Rebuild!

If your vortech is in need of bearings, and you don't want to pay he mafia (vortech) $600.00 for a rebuild you can order the following and do it yourself:

2 Nachi ball bearings nac-6003 (must be speed rated, 55,000 rpm)
2 SKF Ball Bearings 6205/C3
1 Chicago rawhide seal SC/R-6248
1 Transcom seal TCM-25x40x7tc
1 Chicago Rawhide Speedi sleeve C/R-99062

If you contact the folks at supercharger rebuilds (sales@superchargerrebuilds.com)

They quoted me the following:

"I can get you everything for $142.04 (4 SKF bearings, 3 CR seals). That is
with SKF bearings for all bearings; they are higher quality and same RPM
rating than the Nachi.

Thanks, let me know,
Todd"

Those are good prices! When I rebuild mine the bearings alone ran me $189.00. I did order max duty instead of the Standard bearings. Also be advised you will need a press for half the job since one set of bearing is pressed on.

Pictures from when I rebuilt mine ... but I did not get the right bearings for the output shaft and I reused the putput seal.

What happened to cause the rebuild? Sorry I'm just curious. Did it seize up or something?

Well. When you turn mine by hand, like give it a good spin. Its really loud. Could be my imagination.

Either way, I wanted some bearings rated for 55,000rpm. My case is an A-TRIM, but an S-trim impeller and volute.

The unit started to sound louder and during decel it made a bad growling noise. All went away after the rebuild. Now you just hear the s/c whine
