Is this really going to make a SBC Gerenade?????

im coming to a close on my 383 buildup. but now want a supercharger to top everything off. im pushing approx 460hp and 490 tq motor only planned on a 150 shot and also want to supercharge now. im running a scat 9000 cast crank, eagle hbeam rods, and weisco forged flattops. am i really going to turn this motor into a gerenade????? the block is only a 2 bolt main with no nickle in it.

Pull the pin and run.

No offense, you should have decided on this before hand.
If you'd lower your compression down some and run a small amount of boost (a waste IMHO) you should be fine.
Depending of course on your compression ratio.

I've heard mixed things about Scat from my machine shop.
I think you should search the forums for more info on Scat.

If you're really interested in a blower and nitrous,
I'd suggest doing so with a fresh motor with a low compression ratio (mid 8:1s)

Have fun with the 383 before trying to blow it up.
Car should be a blast without the nitrous and/or blower.

Just my
Good luck either way

yea i wasnt planning on a blower sop thats why this (IMO) a perfect street N/A combo. but now the blower would be a nice touch. i already had everything planned out for exactly what im doing (defenitly a 150 shot) i know im all good there. but this supercharger just sounds good even though i know im probably too high on the compression unless its like 5 lbs boost and well over 600 hp and 600 tq will probably destroy that bottom end.

but i know ill have a blast with the nitrous only and a blower will come with the next engine build. but since im waiting probably a TT setup is in the future!!
i will need a nickel block with 4 bolt mains for sure for what i want to build next.

Tell us more about your combination. I have friends with the scat 9000 crank running 11:1 spinning 7500+ rpm running 118 mph traps for 3 seasons now.

If I were you, I would up your n2o dosage to 200 or more rather than stick a blower on your motor. If you are talking roots blower, you definately would want a forged crank.

actually a certrufigal (SP?) supercharger to fit the HSR. 10.5 - 10.6:1 compression (and now im pretty sure the supercharger wont work with that high compression even with nitrous to cool it down) trickflow 23 degree heads 64cc chambers, the flattops have 2 valve reliefs, comp custom .544/.555 230/236 @.050 281/288 adv 112lsa, holley stealthram, headman 1 5/8 shorties, stewart waterpump stage 2, 140 amp alt, msd 6al and coil, and if i did supercharge id like to intercool. plan to spin 6000 rpm's for fear of blowing stuff up.

im curious about the nitrous tho....the n2o kit is the wet tpi plate kit that supposedly only supports 150 hp. however, the guy who is selling it said it used to be a fogger kit and he traded someone something for just the tpi plate and kept the rest of the kit intact.

i know this would make well over 600 hp but dont really think my 2 bolt block and cast crank could handle it.
