How to control boost with a supercharger

Besides picking pullies and being stuck with the result, what is the proper name for a device that limits the boost in a supercharger system. Not a surge valve, not a blowoff valve, but something that has say an adjustable spring pack which holds down a valve. When the pressure hits the mark where it can push the valve open, it does so and 'regulates' the boost to no more than that level. Not that you would use this in place of a blowoff, but you could use it to adjust the boost on the fly (within the limits of your pullies and supercharger of course)

I don't think there is anything other than what you listed. Lowering the boost by leaking some off would just make an inefffeicent design even more ineffeicent because you would be creating more of a parasetic loss for the crankshaft without any further benifit to the engine. There is just no reason to spin the SC faster than needed for the desired boost. My '01 Buick Regal came stock with a SC that has a bypass valve. This is just so the supercharger spins freely under normal driving conditions, not making boost at all, regardless of rpm. Then when you stomp on it, the valve closes and the boost comes in almost instantly. You still change pullies to up the boost with a setup like this though.

Ive seen the valve your talking about on a vortech kit for the newer mustang. I believe it was called pressure regulation valve. Im sure if you give them a call theyll know what your talking about and can make one available outside the kit.

Now that i think about it all superchargers have to have a valve similar to this or else they would run into problems when the throttle closed due to the buildup of boost, but im pretty sure the one on the mustang was adjustable.
