supercharger and lt1?
what kind of superchargers can you put on an lt1.. in a 3rd gen body? I assume witht he 10.4:1 compression, you'd have to put dished pistons in?

From what I've read I think the kits designed for F-Bodies won't work in 3rd gens. TexasLT1 was saying something about a B-Body LT1 kit would work better. I'm trying to research the topic for my conversion as well.

reason it has come up for me is that my buddy has a 85 rustang and is putting out about 260.. im around 300ish. .. I have a little weight on him though.. so then he goes out and gets a steal of a deal on a roots blower. ... so you know what that means...

a buddy of mine is running an ATI D-2 (older style) on his 95 LT1, internals are completely stock, just has blower, mac headers, and cat back. he is running 10 psi, and has been for about 1-1/2 years, no problems... the LT1 has reverse cooling... some newer standard sbc's have water pumps that spin oppostie of normal, but water still flows the same way, LT1 actually flow the water backwards, and the cool water hits the combustion chambers first (as opposed to water jackets first) and this helps fight off detonation a lot, so the 10.5:1 comp on the LT1 isn't much of a problem, they can take about the same boost as an older style sbc with 9.5:1 comp... also LT1 have rods rated at 500HP (i hear thats under rated) and a good crank too, so as long as you have a good tune feel free to throw the boost at em!.... BTW i have a good running f-body LT1 long block for sale...

Powerdyne makes a kit for the B body that should work without any problem, i've seen a few of em installed, nice setup, just limited as far as boost capabilities due to their internal belt, and the price tag is right around $3900
Vortech makes a generic SBC carb'd setup that would bolt up just fine just take some fabricating a crank pulley to get it to work, price is much better on it, but of course it will require a good bit of fabrication.
If emissions are of a concern i'd say the dyne is about the only choice, and if not you'd probably be best off getting some vette front drive accessories and one of the BBSDesigns turbo setups.

So get the carbed S'Charger kit and buy an LT1 pulley off ebaymotors or something. I've seen just the pulley on there a few times. Think it'd work?
