Torque specs and crank specs

I need the torque specs for the main and rod bolts for a 355. Also, i need the clearneces for rods and mains, so i can test them with plastic gauge. crank and pistons go in tomorrow. I also wil take supercharger cam recommendations,.. see my sig. I'll be running around 8 or 8.5:1 compression with the setup and 8-12 lbs intercoold boost. thanks

you're building an engine, a power adder engine even, and you don't have a manaul or any measuring tools. try 40 ft/lbs on the rods and 65 ft/lbs on the mains. don't have a manual here and the clearances are differant for each main, but around .0015 to .0025 is about right. for the rods try .002 to .0035. really ought to look in a manual and not trust some dumbass on the net.
plastigage is a joke and i wouldn't trust it. use mics, snap gage, and bore gage to check clearances.

What fasteners are you using? I used ARP hardware through out. The rod bolts called for 65 ft/lbs. But the best way for installing rod bolts according to them and my machinist is to measure the bolt stretch. Requires another tool I didn't want to buy!!! I just torqued with good 'ole torque wrench.

As for mains, I did 75 on the inner studs and 65 on the outer studs. 4 bolts mains in you didn't already figure that out!!

I am running a slightly looser main clearance because of the fact I hope to 'charge it one day. Rods, I am running about what was posted by ede.

You can find stock specs in just about any shop manual for a third gen. And many of the DIY engine books have lots of specs for stock, mild performance, race. They are of course just general specs, but they will get you in the ballpark.

I am running a Comp Cams blower cam. I have a bit more CR than what you plan to have, but even without the blower, my engine runs pretty strong. Makes me really wish I had the money to buy a blower!!

I have one, probably several people have them, but I'm not really clear on why I should blow a lot of time typing up torque and clearance specs for you.

http://www.helminc.com/ has everything you need, go have fun.
