nitrous on stock L98?
I have a stock L98 with 160,000 miles, would it be alright to put nitous on this motor without a rebuild, and if so how much( 100,150?)

considering mileage, and without considering condition....i'd say you'd be safer in the 50-75 range....i'm not saying it won't hold a 150 shot, cuz it will if you install the kit properly, i'm just saying that I don't wanna be the one to tell you it'll hold and then have you go frag your engine after a few runs
50-75 shot is pretty safe, 100-150...you can do it, but it *might* not last long (could be fine tho) hard to say without knowing the engine very well

I got the car at 100,00 miles, so before that I cant vouch for, but since I've had it it's had regular oil changes, tune ups (though I'm probably due for another one), and all the other general maintenance I can think of.

Well, you can take a brand new car to the track and blow it up not really doing anything wrong, ad as wear and tear set in, chances of blowing it up go up quickly.
It’s possible to put a 150 shot on it and go through a bottle a week and see another 50K miles, but it’s just as possible that the next time you go out and start it it throws a rod.
it's a moot point anyway, since if the engine is in good shape you’ll blow up your tranny or rear first

I just had the trans rebuilt about 15-20,000 miles ago, I dont "think" that the rear or trans would get hurt because of how I would use it, but having no experiance with the stuff I would have to take your word for it. I would not use it on take off, I already have enough problems hooking ffrom the start as it is. I would not use it until I was rolling along at a pretty good pace.

Sorry to steal the thread here, but My L98 has approx 55K on the rebuilt motor and about 10K on the tranny. Where could I get the best 50-75 shot around. Would it be very beneficial to add an aftermarket ign box for this size shot? I also have a lower mileage (60k) rearend going in to replace the old 130k mile rearend. Any other suggestions???

i have a 120k miles L98 in my gta,but a very good runnin.even an mustang guy says its runnin great.anyway.with 100k miles i began to spray on it.first 100,then 150 and finally a 200 shot.now the 80nitrous jets are mounted(thats around 180-210).expect for a tranny that now is slipping badly,i had no problems.and the rear should not break on street tires.but i knew from the begining that a 383lingenfelter engine is sitting in a friends garage and waiting for my car.and this L98 wont go down .on the other hand i had an gta with the :nono: famous 305tpi,80k miles, runnin like crap high 15s,and an 100 shot killed this engine.moral of the story is you have to try yourself, cus everybody has different results.

I ran a NX system for 1 year on my motor. it had 187k on it I sprayed about 2-3 bottles a month through it with the 100 shot. never had any problems. I sprayed 150 on it about 10-15 times and had no probs at all. I do recomend an ignition, and a 1-2 step colder plug. If ya do it right you SHOULD not have any problems. The motor never let go. i took it out when I put my new motor in. it was still running when I took it out, and is still running in my friends truck as of today with approx 235k onit
