ATI Procharger F1

Well I am planning a 383 build up with around 8.0:1 compression, and I wanna go with a blower. I would like to top this motor with competition ported AFR 210cc heads and I pretty much wanna use the ATI Procharger F1 supercharger. I was wondering if anyone is using the F1 on a serp. belt F body?? Anyone with pictures, any problems? I plan on purchasing the supercharger, brackets, and pullies separate, because I already have a strong fuel and ignition system because I thought ahead. Give me some advice and tell me what you think?

The F1 head unit is strictly a bolt-on to the P1/D1SC bracket, which a lot of guys here run including myself. I will be upgrading from a D1SC to an F1 in about two months.

This car has went 9.29 @ 151. It has an F1 on it. He is a member of this board but rarely posts.

By the looks of that blower pulley, and the lack of accessories, I don't think Tony is running a stock serpentine belt set-up. I'm pretty sure that is a cog race mounting bracket assembly, even though I can't see it 100%. I have been educated by Larry @ ASSC that an F1 will fit in where a P1SC mounts, but it might require some minor fender well massaging (he knows this as he runs an F1 with an air to air IC on his Camaro). I would think if one is going to spend the money for an F series blower, and want to get the full potential out of it (they are peaky blowers-meaning the like higher RPM's), then a cog set-up would be the only way to go based on the problems associated with a serpentine set-up and trying to achieve bigger boost numbers. I was originally going to try and keep my serpentine set-up, but decided against it after realizing just how far past the balancer that the blower belt would reside. Basically attach a cog pulley to the top of your already tall crankshaft pulley. Therefore my entire serpentine arrangement is listed on E-Bay, and all new brackertry will have to be purchased and/or fabricated.

What do you mean by minor massaging?? How minor are we talking here. I take it the F1 wouldn't work with an 8 rib serp setup. I take it if I want an F1 I will have to give up my serp accessories and loose power steering?? What are you doing for steering and alternator?

It has an F1 on it
It actually has the F1R which is bigger externaly than the F1 plus it flows some 475 cfm more than the F1.

Now, as stated by Willie the F1 will fit into the D1SC brackets. Which means if you run the F1 head in the D1SC brackets you still maintain your factory serp. set up with all accessories.

The F1R set up on Tory's car is custom from Larry @ ASSC (from my understanding) it it does not use the factory serp set up.

Btw, for a sc capable of spinning 70k rpm I wouldn't even bother with a serp belt unless you want low boost, imho.

What I know about this....

Tory only bought the F1R compressor from Larry. Larry didn't make the brackets. How do I know this? Sitting in the ASSC office, I asked, and Larry looked it up. I'm a nosy SOB, ok? So unless something has changed since Tory first added the F1R....

Larry has a 91/92 Formula, not a Camaro. I've been under the hood and under the car a few times.

Minor messaging of the inner fenderwell?!?!?! LMAOROTFF. Larry has beat the **** out of his to get stuff to clear. If you are **** about asthestics, better plan on refinishing at least that fenderwell.

"they are peaky blowers-meaning they like higher RPM's" They not 'peaky', they're RACE blowers designed to be efficient at high(ie: race) rpms. They were developed to operate on high rpm race engines, not drive around town. Regardless, the F series want to run at a high rpm so you have to do it either with engine rpm or using the pulleying it up to compensate for lower engine rpm. Oh, one other thing, better make sure the shortblock and valvetrain are up to the task of taking on a F series compressor.

then a cog set-up would be the only way to go based on the problems associated with a serpentine set-up and trying to achieve bigger boost numbers. Cogs vs. serp is a debate that will never end. But, with older/other type of blowers with the low internal setup ratios you had to run a small pulley in order to spin the schit out of the compressor to make boost. Small pulley = small belt contact area = belt slippage. The setup ratio on the F series is HUGE compared to Vortech. If I remember correctly it 5 or 4.44 depending on which model you get. If you don't have to spin it as fast, you can run a bigger pulley and have more contact area so slippage is less of an issue. No doubt the cogs have a better WOW factor.

Larry is definitely the man when it comes to this. He is a great guy that will bust his azz to help any way he can. It would probably scare us with we saw how many hours he has spent on the phone with me answering stupid questions andhelping me with my ***** ups. He works closely with Procharger doing R&D. He builds the stuff and tests most of it on his own car. I've been preaching the wonders of Larry and ASSC for the 4 years I've known about them and been working with them. Looks like maybe people have been listening. Know wonder it's harder than hell to get ahold of him anymore Sux being me now
