Eaton M112 ON THE CAR!

Whoo hoo.. got the upper intake back from the shop today. I spent the rest of the day getting the intake on the car.

All i have left is the throttle cables, figureing something out with the hood, and thats about it!

I'm really excited. this is my first major undertaking

That looks positively bada$$!! I've never seen ANYTHING like that under the hood of a 3rd gen before (or any other car for that matter).

Like the milk commercial asks: "Got hood clearance?"

Appears to be sticking up over the hood line just a smidge (like 6"). Cops in my area don't take at all kindly to driving a car on the street without a hood. Got pulled over 1/2 hour after I installed my new blower motor a few weeks ago. I was so excited to drive it I didn't bother with the hood. 1 mile from my house I got pulled over. Talked my way out of it, fortunately.

Belt wrap looks good. I'm having some slippage with mine on decell... adding two additional idler pullies to increase the wrap with mine.

I'm interested in seeing err hearing the level of noise yours makes with the TB ahead of the blower vs behind like mine.

Going to bring the filters forward behind the headlights and adding a second BOV, unless I find a single large enough. Hopefully this will quiet mine down a bit.

do have a question. the front of your upper plenum looks thin, how do you plan to attach the TB?

looks great...

Just thought i would ask you guys for some input.

I just finished putting a blower on my car and I can get any communitcation from the PCM.. It is powered up and making the fans run and clicking random relays but thats it.

It seems a long time ago I had a bad chip and it did the exact same thing.... but i've tried 3 different chips all together!

What is the deal!

Rooster- there are exactly 2 people on the planet I trust without reservation when it comes to making GM ECMs work on engines they weren't designed to run:

1. My brother.

2. No, not me, but this other guy don't come cheap.

My brother DOES come cheap and he fixes stuff like this just to give himself something to do- He's your typical MENSA genius who likes to fix puzzles just to give himself something to do. And he's a military-trained electrical and computer engineer. Kinda guy you couldn't find if you wanted to. You live anywhere near Norfolk, VA?

Just to let you guys know..

Someone is planing on stealing this idea from me and marketing the kit.

I'm deeply deeply offended by this and have one thing to say...

Why am I not surprised?

Several people have told me to patent the twin setup. Personally, my kudous go to Mike Sitar.. he was first.. I just adapted his idea to a TPI and a SBC.

Stealing someones idea... how lame.

the great thing is I have a ton of documentation on this thing... where i bought the blower, where i bought the intake, when i bought everything, I've got probally 100 pictures... I think it would take a really smart person to try to steal my idea

Oh and get this.. he sorta came off with a threat where I would afford a lawsuit against him if he did take it

Oh let me get something straight before someone gets the wrong idea too..

I wouldn't care if someone tried the same idea that i've done on thier own car but when the person asks me to send him demensions and if i can send him 10 intakes I get pissed off.

The idea of someone stealing my idea and making money on it just burns me up big time

Where did you find room to mount the injectors and angle them at least "roughly right" to aim at the ports. My slightly larger Weiand 142 wouldn't leave much room for injectors on the lower intake once the blower is bolted on top of the SBC-compatible manifold that comes with it.

contrary to what everyone thinks

Injector positioning is not critical or important.

If it was would batch fire, TBI, or carberation work?

Let vaccum and dynamic pressure control where fuel goes

hehe, im sure your fuel metering is more accurate then the usual "inject ontop and thru the blower" method thats usually used with FI blowers..

quick question.... are you rasing the fuel pressure 1:1 with boost to make up for the greater manifold pressure, (ie, at 10 PSI boost, the fuel pressure is 60PSI instead of 50PSI as refranced from outside the car..) or are you just modifying the ECM so it gives more fuel at higher boost?
im talking about raising it 1:1 so that the manifold pressure to fuel pressure stays constant and the relitive pressure doesnt drop and make the injectors spray as if they had less pressure behind them... im not talking about jacking the pressure up so they spray more fuel to account for boost..

hopefully that makes sence.

Nice looking LT1 install Rooster! How much boost are you pushing? Saturn, you mentioned adapting this to a TPI SBC? Sounds like a winner!! Do you have any websites where I can read about the install? I'm using a bunch of left over parts to build a motor for a S10 V8 swap. L03 block, L98 heads, L98 cam, and MAF TPI setup w/ 22# injectors. Problem is the 64cc heads drop the compression to 8.2:1 and the injectors are a little big for a 305. Seems like this build is just begging for some boost!! If there were the possibility of a budget supercharger install costing a little more than raising the compression (milling the heads and different pistons), I might want to go that route instead. What do you guys think?

with a bigger cam and 5lbs of boost from a 144, ive seen one in a monte carlo (the older 4 headlight one.. donno year) running low 13s.... id imagine the weight of the two to be about the same, athough i donno....

the M112 should make more boost then the 144.... athough TWIN M112s would be killer.....

i think what it comes down to is do you have the ability to do this stuff yourself.. most of this, i wouldnt be able to do without friends.....

Almost no one has enough stuff to do all of something like this unless they're doing it professionally, and even most good fabrication shops will have to job out some of the work. In my case I don't have any way of welding heavy gauge aluminum or a good way of doing any serious cutting (outside cuts on aluminum are fine, regular shapes are fine, but some inside and odd cuts the best I can do is a cutting wheel and angle grinder…)

The trick to doing something like this reasonably is to be able to do most of the bitch work yourself… that way you can take the completed setup to someone that has the 500A welder and get it welded up in a half hour because everything is all fit up and ready to go.

How fast are you hoping to go? Twin M112's should be enough air flow for way over 1Khp. Hell, my brother's car is running 120mph in the ¼ and not even fully tuned with a single M90...

speaking of that... do you have pictures or more info about exactly what you did to boost up the efficency of the M90? hopefully some of that can transfer over to the M112....

im going to put it on "as is" for now, but i know im going to want to bump up the pressure some.... i dont think its going to be making alot of boost on a 400...
