Adding Second fuel pump for nitrous sys.

I am going to run a holley blue for my nitrous system on my carbed 350. My primary pump is a block pump. For the second pump I am using 1/2" line and i am mounting the fuel pump and filter as close to the pump as i can find room for but my question is what are the different methods of getting the fuel out of the tank? I did a search and didn't find anything so any help would be very great. thanks in advance.

i pullled my gas tank and had a sump welded onto the bottom of it. It wasn't the easiest way i'm sure....but now i have 2 half inch holes in the lowest most region of my tank to do nothing but empty the tank in a very quick manner. Plus then it leaves the top lines there as decoration too.

I pulled my tank and added a second pick up line to the factory sending cluster.

How easy is it to remove the gas tank? Do you have to also remove the rear axle assembly? I might need to do this in the near future, if you have any: do's/donts/I wish I would have's
-that would be very helpful, thanks

if you raise the car so that the rearend can sag down and the lower shock bolts are taken off the tank can be removed the exhaust usually must be disconnected from its rear mounts (muffler and tip mounts), the fuel lines and electrical connections disconnected and dont even bother doing it until the tank is nearly bone dry empty (drive it around first). A word of warning lowering the rearend with the shocks disconnected can result in brake line damage (the rubber line to the car from the rear can get over stretched) also the panhard and its support I believe are removed too. there is certainly a tech article about it on the home page.

Unless you've had everything back there taken appart recently, it usually proves about as easy as trying to remove your own nuts with a spoon... Something always binds, breaks... and you almost always get stuck cutting or torching something appart...

Leave the tank in place ,junk the block pump and run a mallory
comp 250 pump (or comperable) alone. It will supply you with plenty enough pressure and GPH .
I feed my blown camaro with one of those and have tried a 100shot along with it.
So under 10 lbs of boost it fed 17 lbs of fuel pressure and supplied enough fuel for approx. 638 HP .
But I also replaced the stock pick-up with a 1/2 steel line from a heave equip. place ,they flared it and put a male #6 Aeroquip
fitting on the end .
But unless you plan to make more than 450 real HP then I would use the stock pickup for now.

Ohh yeah,I used to own a holley blue and the comp 250 is actually quieter. Be sure to use a return style regulator.

so how long did your holley blue last you?

I've heard for the street they aren't very reliable. I have one on my camaro and I always wonder about it when I go driving.

with the mallory pump did you run a Y fitting to two seperate regulators. One for the enigne and one for the nitrous system? How many gph would i need to flow for a 300hp engine and 100hp of N2O?

My holley gave me no problems at all,It will last longer if you use a bypass regulator and quieter also use less current.

No Y ,I use one regulator with 3 outputs on it.
You will only really need about 40 pressurized GPH ,but you deffinetly want some overkill There for you wil not experience any pressure drops.
Remember those pumps are rated a freeflow GPH ,not under 7 PSI load so don't be fooled by 100 GPH claims.

I would say you would be more than safe with a pump rated at
around 150 freeflow GPH .

I am going to get rid of the holley blue and get a 150gph pump or bigger. I am wondering if i keep the stock fuel line if that will cause any problems?

I used my Holley Blue to feed the engine and my 150 shot... It works great, but I ditched it when I went with the twins..

Cheers,

With a BSFC of 0.5 pounds of fuel per horsepower per hour and 6 pounds of fuel to a gallon

take 400 * 0.5 / 6 or 33 gallons per hour to support a 400 HP engine.

double that to CYA

Well it look like i am going to be trying my holley blue for a while and see how that all works out. I would figure that the stock lines and pickup are more then enough for my setup. thanks for all the help guys:hail:

Cheers,
I did that as well and the fuel bowls would empty at half track and then the car would die with a piston threatening backfire.
