What rings to run with TC

I am planning on running some TRW blower pistons and am curious as to who makes a good ring for my application?
Do i want a Plasma Moly Top Ring and second ring or a chrome top ring or what?
I guess i can ask when i call to order but i wanted to get a recommendation from you guys.

Thanks

I'm using a file-fit Childs&Albert 1/16" stainless steel top ring, with file-fit 1/16" Speedpro moly 2nd ring and standard tension 3/16" oil rings.

Why the different companies and types of steel? Price i doubt since i see you sig:hail:

Why not a full set of stainless from Childs and Alberts?
Excuse my ignorance but what exactly does file fit entale?
Thanks

The stainless steel/chrome top ring is much more tolerant of the increased combustion heat that forced induction engine's generate. You don't need or really want to use stainless for the second ring. Moly is fine since the second ring isn't exposed to as much heat as the top ring. Only reason I used two different brands is because I had a set of C&A chrome ZGS rings, but prefer the SpeedPro moly file fit second rings over gapless rings.

File Fit means that the rings are oversized out of the box, and you have to file the ring ends to acheive your desired ring end clearance. Pre-fit, out of the box rings are fine for a production type engine, but for performance engine's you'r better off file fitting them so you have more control over the ring gaps. The Pre-fit rings are going to have more end gap than you would typically need.

I'm also using a relatively cheap set of Speed Pro moly rings, file to fit. My ring gaps are .032 top, .020 second and .020 on the oil scraper rings. HOWEVER, I am using Keith Black hypereutectic pistons which have VERY specific ring end gap requirements- don't use these end gap specs on just any piston. ALWAYS consut the piston maufacturer for ring end gap requirements as well as piston-to-wall clearance recommendations.

BTW- the special coatings and materials used on a set of rings (moly, chrome, whatever) typically only applies to the top compression ring. They second ring is usually just standard cast iron 99% of the time unless it's a really special ring set.

Wow damon I read those gaps and I was thinking HUH?? LOL

Your explanation made it a little simpler to swallow. Just sounded really bogus there for a minute.
