Just thought I would share a few pics of my Eaton M90 install in progress. Finished the blower mount bracket, starting the rear brace tomorrow. cheers, Bob

That is crazy, is it suspose to bolt on like that???

Looks like a regular chevy blower but mounted in the wrong spot?

isnt that big square hole for the 4bb to bolt up???

No problems, I know the limits and drawbacks, but this is more for chitz and grinz more than anything. Later I hope to build a 355/383 and add a second M90 and use a LT1 intake. Sorta taking Mikes info from his T-bird and applying them to my Malibu, something different than whats currently appearing around here. cheers, Bob

The intake is on the back, and it is a Eaton M90 Series 2 off a 89-91 T-Bird SuperCoupe.

Are one of those big enough to feed a 350? It is set up to give a 3.8 liter what 5-6psi boost? What will it give 5.7 liters? 1-2-3 psi? Are you going to change the pulley to up the boost? Any ideas on how to make one of those to work for a draw through carb setup?

Hum... been there done that. I know that I posted pictures and some info here before, but here is a picture of my brother's t-bird M90 blown LTD that I spent some time last year cutting out brackets and flanges for:



Not a TPI but the same basic idea. It's run 11.5 at 119 with tuning and traction issues.

What size engine is that? You know you'll have to spin that thing to the moon to see some boost. With the stock pulley you'll have enough air flow for about 2psi or less. That one is turning 18,000rpm at redline to make about 7-9psi, (yea, I know, way past the maximum according to eaton's site, but I have some friends on the inside and I can tell you that they get more efficent when you spin them faster. Over 15000 all bets are off, but his seems totally reliable). We also took turns porting the blower housing to see more airflow.

Any other details?

Yeah I saw that pic. Plus Mike's Bird too. I plan to add a second blower later on a better SBC and see what happens. 11.5's... wow! love the sleeper LTD. Hell if this thing pops low 13's I'll laugh my butt off, just a stocker rebuild 305 with a mild cam, fresh 88 heads and a ported intake.. Have a 2.88 first T-10 and 3:50's in the 9 inch. Yeah I hear max is "15K" but hmm from what I have figured with the TPI crank pulley is 16400 blower at 5800 crank. No reason for me to really rap it up, this is just a for grins exercise. Did you port it similar to what Mike shows on his site? How much did you gain? Was it worth the time/effort? thanks, Bob

Actually he's got 2 cases right now, the one that is on the car started as one of mike's ported cases (most of what he did was radiused the inlet port), though I don't know if it was one of the ones that you see on his web site. We did a lot of reshaping, mostly on the inlet since that. The less restirctive the inlet the better, and you can remove a lot of the area around the inlet and with the only side effect being more flow. The slots in the outlet side are mostly for sound cancelation and there is a little to be gained there. If you can get to see the inside of an older and a newer case you'll see that they completely changed the bottom of the case shape to increase efficientcy and it is pretty obvious which way to go with it (sorry, no pics of them).

Right now he's still running older rotors and talks about trying to find some new ones. The newer rotors are epoxy coated to tighten the tolerances between them which is supposed to make them more efficient and build more boost.

Unfortunatly the car wasn't run at the track between cases, but the data logs showed almost 2psi more boost.

Somewhere in the $100-$200 range, I can get a decent turbo for under $200 with a built in wastegate. [save room]

Do you have any more drawings, or photos of the brackets you made to mount the blower? I have an M90 I'm going to mount on my TPI 305 C10 pickup, and I'm just gathering as much info and ideas for mounting as possible.
