I have been put in charge of a job for a friend, hes got about 6,700 bux to spend. He wants his 89 Z/IROC, whatever it is, (I'm a pontiac guy, sketchy on the 'maros) to move. His engine in there now is beat. he's got a fresh trans, suspension mods, etc. I was thinking, hypothetically, what would an ATI P600b kit, and either Recon 330 HP 350, or a ZZ4 crate engine, on a slightly modified TPI system, with a nice exhaust (no headers though) do for him in the quarter?

Why would you not put headers on it? If you want to pump a bunch of air into the motor, you have to be able to get it out.

Nick, this engine and blower combo isnt my doing, Im just doing what is wished. The headers will follow soon enough.

here ya go:

TRW/Speedpro blower pistons: $300
Keep stock crank : $0
Buy some H-beam rods : $300 (i have a good source for them if ya need one)
Bearings : $100

You get the idea....that is what you should do to the shortblock......

you shouldn't have to spend more than about $2000 on the shortblock and that is with all machine work and assembled

That leaves 4700........

Buy a cam
some headers

Down to $4000 or so (give or take)

Valve job: $150 or so

Down to $3850

Buy 12psi D-1SC/P-1SC with 3 core intercooler: $3500 or so

There ya go, that combo is EASY mid 11s with a gear and crappy torque converter. With a better torque converter you'll looking at 11.dohs

Edit: Its too bad you are so far away....i'd take a check for that $6700 and build the car for ya for about an extra $2000 and he'd have one hell of a screamer
