Nitrous on stock engine
I want to put nitrous on my stock engine. I don't have my car yet just getting ideas. As soon as i get my car i am doing exhaust, new manifold, runners, port and polish plenum. I am wanting to to NOS under the manifold kit. My real question is how much safely can in run on this setup. Do i really need to do any major upgrades to do this?

As long as your ignition and fuel systems are in good working order and you step the plugs down one step and retard timing 1-2 degrees for every 50HP shot of spray you can got to 150 HP shot.

I'm running a 150 NOS dry shot on my 350 tpi stock bottom, hypercrap chip, and no retard. Dropped from a 14.9 to 13.6.
I did have to put a holley pump in it to support the extra fuel pressure.
I've ran more than 5 bottles through it so far with NO problems!

HOW?
RAN THE NOS IN THROUGH AIR INTAKE BETWEEN MAF AND PLENUM, AND A BYPASS LINE TO AFPR. THIS GIVES THE EXTRA FUEL PRESSURE REQUIRED.
WHY?
EASIER TO HOOK UP. I PLAN ON GOING DIRECT PORT WET AS SOON AS I PUT NEW HEADS ON.

What do you mean "bypass line?" Does it just raise the fuel pressure? How does it do that? Seems like you would need 100 psi to work properly. Unless you run really lean.....

NITROUS!
My friend has a 89 IROC with a 305 TPI. We put a NX nitrous kit on it just a few weeks ago. Without the nitrous it ran a 15.5 at 89 mph (I think it was 89mph). With the spray it ran a 14.28 @ 94 mph. That's just a 75 hp shot on a dead stock engine except for no exhaust but a flowmaster 40 muffler in place of the cat converter, there's nothing behind it. He still has the stock manifolds on it too. It's an automatic car with only 60,000 miles and a 3.08 rear end with worn out posi.
We're gonna step up to a 100 shot soon and put it into the 13's.

Just ordered my kit...
I ordered an NX GM EFI kit for my car and the GENX-2 accessory kit, which includes the purge kit, fully automated bottle heater, downtube and gauges. I got both shipped to my door brand new for $799 from www.musclecartechnologies.com. My best run OFF the bottle was 14.0@98 (before full exhaust and proper tuning). With a 100hp shot I plan on running a 12.5
Maybe a 150 shot would put me in high 11s with my soon to be ordered Pro-Built 700-R4 and Vigilante converter....
