Fuel requirements

I have done the research for a couple of days now and have not come up with an answer that I liked so I figured I would post it and hope. I have a 383 and am about to bolt on a D-1 Procharger. I am about to order 72 Lb injectors and the racetronix fuel pump kit for Supercharged applications. My question is do I also need to upgrade the fuel rail and the fuel lines to the tank also and if so can some one please point me in the right direction I need to go. My rest of my setup is a SuperRam intake Lingenfelter blower Cam(on order) and an Acell DFI system. My friends are taken bets on how many days untill my rear is in pieces but I am hopeing for at least it to hold up untill the Roll Cage is installed. If anyone has a similar setup that can help me that would be great.

Not sure about the rail, but I've heard accounts of people using the stock fuel lines from the tank to the rail for applications up to 700hp... You should be fine with the lines.

No idea about the rail though

72 lb/hr injectors times 8 injectors is 576 lb/hr TOTAL FUEL FLOW. I'll assume MPFI

BSFC (Brake-Horsepower Specific Fuel Consumption) for a supercharged engine is 0.6 lbs/Hp-hr MAXIMUM.

So, 576 lb/hr / 0.6 lbs/Hp-hr equals 960 Hp. Unless your goal is around there, you won't need that big of injectors.

I have 24 lb/hr (at ~45 psi) injectors in an ATI/383. Granted I have turned up fuel pressure to about 60 PSI and that the engine is in a boat (RPM limited to 5000 RPM). With 8 PSI boost, I find that the injectors are doing the job, but I am close to the ceiling of the injector.

The boat is at an elevation of about 5500 feet, so the air is 20% thinner.

Stick with the 72 lb/hr injectors. If you are like the rest of us...you will need them in the future. You will be able to trim enough fuel out with the dfi to get a good idle and drivability. Are you buying the racetronics dual-255 intank setup? If not, i think that would be your best bet. Your stock fuel lines may be the question that will stump everyone. I was origonally thinking you should be fine with the stock lines, but with a 72 lb/hr injector on a bank to bank system, that is hard to answer without ever doing or seeing it before. Your factory fuel rails should remain untouched if you are using factory lines, but if you do decide to upgrade the fuel lines, I would suggest using the stock rails with -an fittings welded in the ends.

I see guys with aftermarket racing fuelrails made of rail stock that is the exact same as ours. curious about why the welded fittings?these aeroquip M16 and M18 (one of each required) screw in ones not good enough? the M18 part # is FCM2609

Based on your guys replies I think I will just keep the stock fuel rail and guy either the aeroquip or accel adapters and run new fuel lines. I will look into the double intank pump. But I heard they were a pain especially to install. But I am not worried about the 72's being to much cause the dfi can cut them off if needed. I was told with dfi installed bigger isn't a bad thing. And yes your right I will push further I am looking into a 50 shot of NOS for cooling. I am anticipating on pushing the 800HP mark. Hopefully.
