im going to assume he used a -3 which is fine for most t3 or t3/t4 and turbos like a t61 or t70 or he was picking up the oil from a bad location

Re: oil feed and return?
the "an" fittings are "army navy" fittings. the -XX denotes size. each value represents how many 1/16's of an inch the inside diameter is. a -4 is 4/16" ID, a -10 is 10/16" ID.
it will be hard to measure the line (has to be held round to get an accurate measurement), so if it came with fittings measure the ID of the fittings - that will tell you what size it is

it has the fittings on already it looks like a very thin hose. Does it have the fitting size on the fitting somewhere? Also are the ebay oil lines good?

Re: oil feed and return?
ebay lines are crap, u would just buy some fragola pushlock fittings on ebay the -4's are only a few bucks each , and get a few ft of parker pushloc hose off ebay as well
also buy the special clamps for the pushloc line its like 3.50 for a package of 6 or 10 clamps
u dont have to use them but its piece of mind that the hose wont come off the fitting
i use the same stuff above on my twin turbo iroc and never had an issue and i dont use clamps on the drian lines but the feeds do have them just for adde dinsurance
i will tell u once i assembled the hose me and a friend tryed to pull it apart and i think i would have better luck tearing the hose then getting the fitting back out

Re: oil feed and return?
though u will have to decide if u need stright or 45*90* type fittings to run ur lines
basically u should need 2 1/8th npt to -4 adapters
and 2 -4 hose ends in either stright 45* or 90*
and a few ft of the hose
and a package of clamps

I was doing some research and i found out i have a 4an with a restrictor for the feed you think that could have been what caused the problem for the turbo to poop out?

Re: oil feed and return?
was the other turbo journal or ball bearing, u never use a restictor with journal bearing turbos unless u have super high oil presure and even at that point its larger then one u would use on a bb turbo

Re: oil feed and return?
Yeah ive read lots of good things about them that is why i wanna get the setup done right that way it lasts me. Also since ive seen a gto at 4000lb run 10.75@135mph with a 4.8 and just a ls9 cam so im expecting about a low 10s with my cars weight
It is customer return but they look new im thinking of going to see them and see if they have any play on them since they look brand new still, he has two one with internal wastegate hes asking $150 and for the external wastegate one hes asking 180. which one do you recommend me to get?

Re: oil feed and return?
Yeah no bad reviews only bad reviews where the ones people would say of their buddies but no first hand review. I was also wondering why is it that the gt45 has a small turbine? compared to other turbos was reading on another forum that a turbonetics t72 is better is this true?

Re: oil feed and return?
the gt45 does not have a small turbine by any means on ur typical 350 gen 1 engine it will spool around 3k lil sooner on the ls engine.iirc the turbine wheel is 72/90 mm or something close to that
and the turbonetics is a better turbo but its going to cost u what 2x maybe a lil more then that over the gt45
just use the gt45 as it should be, an excellent budget turbo for a small block engine

Re: oil feed and return?
oh ok its because now that i purchased this ebay turbo all kind of deals are coming to me like my friend has a t72 with 3000 miles its the ball bearing one and he will sell it for $300 to me, then this mp gt45. So i wanna know what is best for me that way i install the best one that suits me best. Sorry for asking so many questions. Noob at this turbo stuff i might just end up buying all of them and just to not let the deals pass since i know all of these are great prices and could make my money back.

Re: oil feed and return?
did u buy both? all turbos will have a lil play when brand new and never used.cause there is oil between the shaft and bearings.
i was going to tell u if the turbonetics is infact a ball bearing to just buy it if u had the extra money cause u could sell it and make ur money back plus a bunch
just be sure its a bb unit of its not u could prolly sell it for 5-600
if it isa bb unit u coupld prolly sell it closer to 800

Re: oil feed and return?
So far only bought the gt45.
Good to know then ima buy it to resell it then i did not know they went for that much.
What would be a better candidate though the t72 or the gt45? is there a certain way i could calculate what turbo would be better for me?

Re: oil feed and return?
i didnt watch the video but u losen the 6-8 bolts on the back of the compressor housing rotate it to were u want and then retighten the bolts. u can also do this on the turbine side as well .
more then likley u will have to do both sides to get the feed and drian in the right locations

Oh ok do they have to be torqued to a certain spec?
also to do it right the feed has to be up and return has to be straight pointing down correct?
