Aftermarket bumper lights or blinkers
I find that I do stuff of the spot and two days ago I got out of my car and finally was like I'm going to get new bumper lights. I didn't want the euro ones because I find looking at those, I can't get past the yellow bulb just siting there in the middle of clear. So I came across some that look just like the stock once but there remade. Got them off ebay from autoandart with free two day shipping. They are a little more then the euro but I think it was worth it. I am not sure why the 1st picture looks like it has smoke in it but the 1st picture of the old, 2nd the new next to the old, and 3rd is new installed. over all the seller was great, the product was great.

Re: Aftermarket bumper lights or blinkers
Cool, they look like they are just reproductions of the stockers. But look much better because they are new. A nice way to improve the look of your car!
I have the smoked "euro" ones on my car, I don't like the whole yellow bulb thing either, so I got the Sylvania Silverstar signal lights, the are kinda iridescent blue but light up yellow.

Re: Aftermarket bumper lights or blinkers
Kris I know you know about the stealth bulbs which are chrome.
I have these in my front and side markers, totally take away any color except the shine of the markers....until the lights are turned on, otherwise no color.
P.S. I plan to go LED as LED's are clear cases with clear led bulbs but shine amber (the ones I want), this will also take away from the color in the housings but be less on my electrical with "more" output...going to need a flasher relay of course though.
P.S.S. I am removing my smoked front markers and replacing with clear up front, but keeping my side markers smoked for the clean fender look.

If you don't like google, so be it, use whatever search engine you want.
You shouldn't limit your search's to just on here though. Yes this is a great, (and maybe the best) place for info on thirdgens. But it is not the end all, be all of thirdgens.

Re: Aftermarket bumper lights or blinkers
Sylvania has a Light Replacement Guide on their site (Car specific). Find it and use the bulb reference number on the LED Bulb websites to find the best match.
NOTE: When buying LED's always check the dimensions of the cases and such. I have noticed some dealers sell turn signal, brake and reverse LED's that are larger than most common housings they go into. Ex: 30mm LED's won't fit as they are to large and would need a custom socket on the housing to screw into...just so you know.

Fourth item down....just e-mail them and ask if they have it for your car or one that will work, which I'm sure they have.

Have you noticed if your side markers still "blink" when your driving lights are off.If you have a bulb for the front sig. That one will blink, but not the side marker. If however the drving lights are on then the side marker will work as needed. At least thats what i noticed when i had LEDs in the side marker!

yea the will only blink with the parking lights on, due to the fact leds have to be hooked up (+) to (+) and (-) to (-) its due to how the side markers are wired up
here is how our sides are wired up, the ground is actually (+) for the turn signal that makes an artificial ground only if you have bulbs LED's up front will cause your sides not to work at all......so when you turn on your turn siginal it causes the side marker to flash, as the side marker is using the parking light as an artificial ground to flash w just the turn siginal. when your parking lights are on, and you turn on your turn siginal you get (+) at both "ground" on the side marker and the parking light function, causing the light to turn off, and flash acordingly this is kinda hard for some to under stand
ok now this is how a standard side marker is wired for a car that the side marker does not flash, it uses a body ground instead of an artificial ground
this is also how you would wire up your side marker to work if you got LEDS in the front 2, the reason why is LEDs do not create that artifical ground for your side to work
now you can modify your non side marker blinking car to work as your camaro/bird does buy re wireing it as shown in the first pic
i hope this helps if not ask me and i will post back up

So if I am understanding your diagrams correctly. After your supposed fix, the side markers won't blink? If so how would other drivers see your lane change indications if they are next to you. Those side markers are required by federal law to blink with the turn signal. I dunno, I'm too tired to think about wiring right now.

OK, this maybe a stupid question but your side markers blink? I thought that it was the 4th gen that had side markers that blink or did you mod it so it would? Sorry if you said that some were in your above statement, its been a long day.
-edit-
OK I think your talking about how to wire so you have lights in you side markers?
I'm going to bed, my brain is shutting down.

Re: Aftermarket bumper lights or blinkers
Actually, I don't think mine did either when I got my car. I thought at first it was weird but then figured it was made that way. DAMN, now I cant wait to buy a battery to check and see for sure, because I think I'm right (although this was back in September 2006).
Addition: My Brothers 86's side markers blink intermittent with the front marker
Correction....mine are fine.

Well, I didn't know mine could blink and I have never gotten pulled over nor told from anyone that they should as they look just like reflectors. So so much for federal law

Re: Aftermarket bumper lights or blinkers
DOT law requires you to have sidemarkers on 196X and above cars, not that all cops look for that but yes you must have them, for the side markers to blink is not required by law as far as i know, the pic of the stock config i posted will work with LED sides and regular turn/parkings up front, now they will only blink with the parking lights on, they will not flash without your parking lights on, the second pic shows how to get your side markers to work if you got LED turn/parkings up front....all 3rd gens the front side marker will flash with the front turn/park lamp, if it dont then you got a problem... the reason LEDs are a different beast than regular lamps is because of the resistors on them, the have to be hooked up right to function and they dont make that artificial ground since they got all the resistor crap on them, as regular lamps work no mater what side (+) or (-) is on
ok here is a project go out to your baby and turn a turn signal on, the side marker should flash on the same time as the front one flashes ~~~ ok now turn your turn off and turn on your parking lights, the side maekers and front and rear markers should all be on (for front and rear on the dim mode) ~~~ leave your parking lights on and turn on a signal, look up front when the front gets bright (turn mode) the side marker cuts off when it goes dim (parking lights) the side marker turns on, this is due to the fact that the side marker grounds on the (+) side of the front turn signal two (+) dont light so it cuts off when it goes to dim the sidemarker regains its ground and turns on.......etc etc
DOT law states that ALL lights on a car must work, no if ands or buts about it, now the chance of you getting a ticket for a side marker blown, SLIM......but trust me, if you ever drive a big truck and go through a scale you can get a ticket for ANY light being blown even the "chicken lights" (add on lights that many truckers have) trust me i almost got a ticket for one, luckly i fixed it on the spot
i hope this helps some
to anwser kitts PM, the 194 side markers are swapable, as in if you plug your 194 LED in and it dont light with the parking lights pull it out and swap it, i cant tell you what side is (+) and (-) as for the first time in 6 years i got someone else working on my camaro and its not home, (im sure it feels sad sitting outside)

Re: Aftermarket bumper lights or blinkers
I ask the question because they look just like reflector like on a bike and don't look like they have bulb unlike the 4th gen that has holes for the bulb. This is pretty good cause I wanted them to light up, so I guess it most likely just needs a new bulb.

Damn! all this from a little observation i noticed way back.I even tried using 9 LED lamps.Thinking they would draw more current & blink as needed, but to no avail.I just switched back to standard bulbs.May try some low watt xenons so a can get that clean look with the clear side markers.

LEDs draw way less current, whats your problem, im lost
if you want a clean look get the silver star turn siginals, they look blue off and glow orange when lit

Ok i looked at mine when i got my car back and my LED's flash either way, it turns out my brand of LEDs work either way they got something in the board of them that changes the polarity, so they function as normal 194's
NOW if i could remember where i got them to help yall (and dang we highjacked the heck out of this thred)
now upon investigation just like i said the sides will not function right with LED's in the front lights, so i still have the silver star bulbs up front
