ATI SUPER DAMPER sbc 305,350,383,400
I have a very low use ati super damper. it has the removable weight so it can be used with both internal and external engs
I had this on my ext. balance sbc 400 for a few hundred miles. it looks like new with the only scratches where the crank pulley sits.
the part number is 917080
summit sells these for 340.00!!
http://store.summitracing.com/defaul....asp&x=35&y=13
these are what top eng. builders and race teams use
fluid dampeners don't work as well at reducing harmful harmonics at higher rpms and are not rebuildable

I would maybe do around $120 or so I was going to get one a while back and gor a really good deal on a pro products. but the one I was going to get that is what the guy was asking. also from what he said is the balancer you have is specific to the ext balance 400. he may have been wrong but that was from an engine builder so I kinda doubt it. anyway let me know.

the weight is removable. this is what makes it ext. balanced. I talked with ati about this because I had a double keyed hub with the bbc outer shaft size for a 350 (int. balanced sbc) and I was told that i could have a machine shop take and bolt the weight from this hub to that hub (but, it needed to be in the same spot and they recomended they do this using the balancing method to make it accurate. this is what makes the differance. it is pretty simple stuff
when most people build a 383 it uses a sbc 400 crank which is why they often use sbc 400 flywheels, flex plates and harmonic balancers
internal balanced sbc do not need this counter weight.

I can't quite under stand what you are trying to say but,
for a external balanced eng. you need to buy a specific one like this. other wise they would have to make a weight, balance it ect. which would end up costing more than buying the specific balancer. this is an ati unit not pro products

the $120 was for the ati. and that was his reasoning also as you stated for this being a 400 balancer is because the internal dampner the weight is not removable. anyway there is quite a few places here on the internet that sell them for the $225-$250 range summit and Jegs are good because of the varied parts selection but bad because of overhead. alot of the internet companies are lower because of dropshipping. they can get it d/s from wholesaler instead of having inventory which saves them on inventory tax and all. anyway if you decide to let it go I will go between $120-$150. Thanks

sorry to say when ever I sold my other computer I wiped out the hard drive that had all the really good prices and my dealer price sheets too. but here is one site offering them for $299 this was a quick random search.

another for $275

I do have to agree they are one of the best balancers around. one thing to mention also is that since they are rebuildable you can usually get the bands to rebuild for almost nothing on Ebay and just buy a used one from www.musclemotorsports.com they have all kinds of excellent deals on used nascar parts.
