hey guys here is a dilemma
Ok here goes. I am leaving here, slated for december, and need some input on what to do with the car.
ok here is the skinny. 1989 T/A with 23,000miles and little money in it. I have swapped EVERYTHING out with cool parts, ie: 305 to a 350, auto to T-5, 2.73 drum to 3.27 disk, GTA rims and other little stuff.
Ok it now has a gauddy dent in the passnger side from the January accident. This has no doubt decreased the value........ The insurance has paid me well for it too.
1. I can sell it here and hope for 4500+\- with the body work straight and paint good again.
2. I could try to take it with me to the states, but it may cost upwards of 4000 to ship on a boat. (I could use ethe insurance money)
3. I could try to take it to Europe.
See the thing is I am not sure where I am going..... so I don't want to SPEND THE MONEY, to fix the dent yet.
What do you think?

Car: too many ...
Is it really only worth that much in Japan? I thought the market for American cars over there was kinda hot. Not like in the sense that there will be alot of buyers, but when there are buyers they pay alot. I think if you fixed it up you'd be supprised what someone would pay. Just gotta find the right connections to sell it and wait for the right buyer to come along. I dunno though, thats just what I hear from people that visit Japan.

Car: 1992 Camaro RS
Engine: 383 w/Holley Stealth Ram
Transmission: Pro-built 700R4
Axle/Gears: 3.73
wher did you get your price for shiiping to the states. SHould be only 2000 at the most. I've got 2 to 3 quotes at one time and thats the average of the prices. I think 4500 is pushing it. most people don't want o deal with the JCI and other thing that come with V8's. I know all the work you put into it but i really don't think it's possible unless you sell it to a japanese person. Us GI's would rather go for the S***ine for that price. the other 2 choices are possible also. i know of alot of people in europe with Camaros.

"2. I could try to take it with me to the states, but it may cost upwards of 4000 to ship on a boat." -- not true, goto the navy mwr site and arrange for "space available" shipping from Guam. Should cost about $50 for active duty, retirees or DoD Civilians on PCS orders. This is what it will cost me to ship my IROC to California. Send me an email, I'll send the forms to fill out. Here's the details:
===================================================
Opportune Lift Program
Looking for a way to ship that second POV back to the mainland without spending a lot of your own money? The OPPORTUNE LIFT (OPLIFT) program might be just what you need.
Commander Naval Surface Group Middle Pacific (COMNAVSURFGRU MIDPAC) runs the OPLIFT program within the Middle Pacific region. This includes lifts between Hawaii, San Diego CA, and occasionally Guam. The program relies on volunteer U.S. Navy ships to transport OPLIFT material. Availability of OPLIFT is dependent on operational schedules and ship load out, so participants should be prepared to wait anywhere from one to nine months for an OPLIFT move. Once a ship is confirmed for OPLIFT, COMNAVSURFGRU MIDPAC will team with FISC Pearl Harbor and/or PWC to ensure your material is safely loaded onboard the vessel.

OPLIFT Assistant Coordinator: (808) 473-3045
OPLIFT Program Manager: (808) 473-3047
