New guy saying hello, and has questions to ask! :)
Hi all, i just signed up and wanted to say hello. I found the website while looking for 3rd gen forums and found a ton of information on modifying my car. I was mainly looking for TPI tweaks to get more out of my 91 z and google brought me here.
I'm located in Kalama, Wa and drive my 1991 Z-28 regularly to work, about 60 mile commute each way. So I'm logging some serious miles on my car lately, but I don't mind cause these cars were made to be driven
Some info on my car, it's had an engine rebuild at about 130k and had about 20k on the engine when i bought it back in 2006. Here's what was installed then and what it currently still has:
engine: part#12513151 ENG-5.7GW (gm goodwrench?) w/~40k miles
heads: #14101083 w/ 1.6 crane gold roller rockers
TPI stock runner/intake (as far as i can tell)
cam: ?
Headers: Edelbrock 6876; 1-5/8" (long tube?) Dual cat
700R4 rebuilt (shifts hard, supposedly has kevlar internals)
stock rearend w/3.73:1 gears
Eibach springs (2" drop)
Power: 315 torque@3900/247hp@4400 at the wheels.
*tuner stopped at 4.4krpms cause car was running hot and fighting knock
The tq/hp was tested in june '10, and I had Wong's Performance in Vancouver set me up with a new chip as the last aftermarket one had gone bad (was too large for the computer housing and caused bad connections, computer lost its mind daily). He was fighting a knock, so enriched WOT air/fuel to 11ish to cancel it out.
The numbers from the chassis dyno are ok i guess but I would like to get more out of the car if possible (and in the higher rpms). I'm thinking a cam would be a great place to start, but I'm not sure what cam the crate engine "#12513151 ENG-5.7GW" came with, so I'm not sure what I should be looking at to get more power. I'll post a seperate thread to ask, so that this one doesn't get too thick right away
So hello all and I look forward to learning as much as i can here about my camaro!
Alan

Hey, welcome to the site!
Sounds like a very nice car.
The TPI system may be your choking point currently more then the cam. Doesn't do a lot of good to flow a bunch more air if your induction system doesn't support it.

Yeah i've been reading on upgrading TPI's, and it's definitely more trouble than I can afford. So if I can't have the high end rpms, then I'll just have to settle for getting more out of the low end, or just leave it as is.
Loved the quote, didn't need the image in my head though lol

Watch the classifieds... there is a guy selling AS&M runners and plenum for 300 bucks. That will help the top end considerably.
This is the only site I have a member quote in my sig, but when I saw what he said I burst out laughing and had to immortalize it.
