I spent an evening with Thanos at our first Calgary 3rd gen club meeting. He was your typical 19 year old Greek--full of life with a great passion for 3rd gens. He was there before everyone else.
His only failing was a very heavy right foot. He never went anywhere slow that evening, it was pretty much pedal to the metal wherever we went.
We are going to miss him

We did not get to know Thanos as well as you all did, but none-the-less, he was Crew family to us, and this comes at a devastating loss to the Crew. Wake up call for me. As someone who just got back in the house from fixing my T/A, and who hasn't driven it in several months, I often forget how fast these cars really are, and how much faster we can make them. I already have had scary experiences in my IROC with some friends that scared me out of the same thing at 145 mph, and four years later, still feel strongly about taking a car like that at that speed at a track only. I also had experiences with a 1993 Z28 I ended up with, where a similar thing happened, close anyway, where luckily the passenger lived but the driver later died. I was and have been around to see what grief it leaves the family of the deceased with, as well as responsability afterwards. I feel so sorry for that family and to those of the ones involved in this recent accident. The whole situation is truly a very very sad ordeal.
I have had some rather interesting experiences regarding that '93 Camaro, which makes me feel as if I'm not alone...don't forget, they never go away, they're watching us...to all of you out there like me with a heavy foot, be careful, and think of all that is left behind and all the pain and problems you can create every time you keep your foot planted in that pedal for more than a few seconds...RIP all of you, RIP...

just letting everyone know I made a post about it located here to let others at TGO who might have known him about what happened
https://www.thirdgen.org/techbb2/sho...hreadid=135521
also want to say that I had a wake up call myself
I love to go out and drive fast and enjoy my car. seeing this is something that makes me really see that even at sub 100mph speeds you can crash the car and how fatal the wrecks can be. it's not that I didn't see that before I just didn't want to accept it. I can't push it aside anymore now.
it's a shame though that we had to lose one of our own. TGO and the CC is like a family to most ppl. and losing him is like losing a brother. I know a lot of ppl have heard of him and many have even heard of him. he was an active person of these boards and though I can't say I knew him it looks as though he had a big part in other ppls lifes. all we can do is pray for those out there that feel the loss of a good person.
R.I.P.

This hits home and hits hard...
Definitely a wake call for me. I can't help but think of my roommate and his addiction to going insanely fast. We've gotten into some pretty hairy situations before driving around country backroads . My heart goes out to the families who lost a loved one in this tragic accident. RIP and may The Almighty have mercy on their departed souls .

I just read the article, and I give my sincere condolences to the family...we often forget how truly easy it is for one small detail to cause a wreck like this. One moment of inattention and they died. It didn't and shouldn't have been this way...

Okay, so I'm a little slow; just noticed the sticky note on the transmission board... damn. I could probably count on one hand the times that GTA-Paladin and I were on the same message thread, but it still feels like I've lost something... though the only connection between us was that we owned f-bodies. Strange to think that we lost a member/friend in such a way... we're all thirdgen enthusiasts, and it doesn't seem "right" for Thanos' highway to end like it did. My condolences to his family and friends and to those of us here that had the honor of speaking with him... and lets keep him in mind the next time we're tempted to "show that ***** who's got a real car"- lets keep it all on the racetrack, for the sake and memory of our friend. And heaven forbid we ever have to hear such a report again on thirdgen.org.

My sympathies to friends and families of all three guys. I've lost two very close family members in the last 6 months. One of which was my kid brother and the other my mom. I know how shocked, and hurt the families are feeling. You feel especially "mad" that it was careless, as I did in my brother's case. Life's short. We seemed to be riminded alot. Nobody seems to pay attention until something like this hits home. I know I didn't.

Man, that's some heavy stuff. I was just passing through the transmission forum and saw the sticky at the top - much like Tom. Seeing the pictures really makes me think for a few minutes about my own actions in my car. I need to be careful and sensible. I have been lucky - I've not been in any hairy situations thus far and it's been all fun. I don't really race all that often - but I still think about the few times I have when I see those pictures. Be careful everyone, be careful.
And although I have never read any of his posts, talked to him, etc. - I hate to see GTA-Paladin and the other two in the car go - I really do. Rest in peace. My sympathies to all related and hurt by this.

stumbled upon this sticky... makes me think maybe that LT1 in my car this spring isnt so needed....
i dont think he ever was in any threads i ever even replyed to, but it still feels really weird knowing that that man used to post here and was just like any of us, enjoying his car.
condolences

wow... that is quite tragic. Shame what happens to some people. Little mistake and the fun turns bad. quite sobering, too... I routinely drive 100+ MPH w/o even thinking twice... guess its time to start thinking...

It's really depressing when this kind of thing happens.. a similar situation happened on another forum i am a regular at a few months ago (www.hpiracing.com) and it really is no fun to hear.
But to put a little lighter spin on it, and please don't take this the wrong way, at least he went doing what he loved to do... driving his TA and having a ball.

Dont mean to offend anybody but i think that thirdgen should have a post of members that sadly left this world to make us think every time we go out on the street. To becareful about or speed and how careless we 3rd geners and other car loving people can get with or cars. And if you just have to go fast to go to a local track.

wow.....I really don't know what to say.
Since stripping my Camaro in the fall and moving onto my 72 Cutlass, I haven't really stopped in here in a while.
Did I know him personally? no. I do remember his name. As with any message board, there are people that talk BS, but there are always a few that know what they're talking about and respond with great enthusiasm. This is how I remember him. A true car lover willing to help out anyone without all the macho internet bravado. RIP
Let this be a wake call to everyone out there. Young or old, to each corner of the globe, this can happen to anyone, anywhere, anytime.
Everyone take care.

It was cool to hang out with him all the time. His name is still there as a mod for the Northeast board. this just brought back some memories of everything that happend last year. To the both of them, i hope there havin fun, shootin the sh*t, and doing burn outs in the sky. My friend Erik is truly missed to this day. Meets wont be the same without him. heres a pic of him at one of the meets... its the best one i got of him.

I can not tell you how many nights I have stayed awake looking for something like this, only not to find it until three years later- So here I am sitting on my computer, where Thano use to live with me, crying and trying to be strong. Three years tomorrow- and still never forgotten... I knew Thano had friends' But I don't think anyone was aware of how many people actually loved him- like all of you who cared. I don't know if anyone will ever read this post- but I would like to say Thank-you on behalf of Thano's family, I am his cousin- whom he lived with until he left for the Navy in BC. I am touched with all of your kind words and hearts-
Thank you, it means a lot to me-
And to him
