2002 LS1 track times around the country

I am curious as to what the new ones run around the country, bone stock on street tires. I am trying to figure out if our track is screwed or what, here they run high 13's. Everyone has told me they should run low 13's, but I haven't seen one do it yet on street tires. Please, for the sake of accuracy, don't reply unless you know it was stock and also on street tires. Thank you!!

Ex's LS1 ran 13.7 on stock (mostly bald) tires. NO mods done to her car.

I think that the "low 13" sec cars are in the minority.

tha auto's are about 13.6~13.8 @104 and the T56 equipped cars run the low 13s (13.3@105) with good driving, otherwise I have seen them run low 14s with not-so-good drivers.

Got a friend with a bone stock 2001 (I realize it's a year off, but it shouldn't be much/any different) LS1 six-speed Z28 that ran a ~13.5 at Steele, AL. Not sure on the trap speed...a bit over 100.

Ls1's tend to be inteh low 13's aroudn here. like 13.2-13.4 range.
all it takes is free mods and a torque convertor and they are in teh12's.

later

A friend of mine with his bone stock black 2000 SS went 13.3 @ 105.xx at Englishtown in New Jersey. The car is a 6-speed with no t-tops, cloth seats, and the 17" wheels. At Lebanon Valley which is about 600-900 feet above sea level, he went 13.3 also with the addition of a full SLP exhaust and Granatelli LID. I have never seen one run 12s bone stock, but I don't deny it.

I've seen them running in the 13.20-13.40 range, stock on street tires at Montgomery and Reynolds. I talked to a guy March 15 at Mongomery with an '01 SS that claimed to only have a K & N and a set of drag radials running 12.90's-13.00's. It was six speed car, and I gotta give the kid credit, he was banging on it. I got a kick out of wayching him run each time I had the chance. He was side-stepping the clutch at 5000RPM (I wonder how long the 7.5 will take!!??) He said his best time was a 12.8something, back in Feb.

I'll let you know what my stock '98 A4 runs after Saturday (weather permiting).

I think the problem with the LS1's you have seen is probably launching. Check out their 60' times. The good drivers will have good times. I have seen a bone stock (down to paper air filter) 2002 WS6 A4 (yes auto) run a 12.86. You just have to cut a sub 2.0 60'...something not too easy with stock goodyears and a M6.

most at great lakes drag way have run 13.7-14@ 102-105 when Ive been there (in the heat). A lot of these cars have airboxs. I dont think Ive ever seen a stock LS1 break 13.5- Maybe our track is junk.

Who knows

vortec, GLD does suck!!

Head over to Byron or US41 and you'll see the big boys running. Nobody was getting traction up at union grove this season...too many street cars with the "free racing" deal.

PS Mean5.7 and I will be @ Bryon on sat. (if weather agrees), come on out!

My 2000 SS MN6 car (bone stock down to the paper filter and 32 psi in the tires) went:

2.144 60'
8.77 1/8
83.58 1/8 mph
13.39 1/4
106.67 1/4 mph

I had another run that I made these numbers:

2.077 60'
8.63 1/8
84.30 1/8 mph
No 1/4 et or mph!

That run would have been ~ 13.25 or so.

Top MPH that day: 107.20

The air was not that good that day ~1000 feet or so

I think with drag radials and a hard launch my car would gone high 12's.

That car was PURE THERAPY to drive.

My friends 2000 SS 6spd ran 13.47@105 with SLP Y-pipe,SLP Loudmouth exhaust, lid, filter, and 160 thermostat. His 60ft was 2.19 I think. Stock he ran 13.8-13.9 @ like 102 or so. Have not seen any in 12's at my track yet. Lot of older LT1's there that have a hard time breaking the low 14's.

I guess it really depends not only on what part of the country you're in, but the conditions of each individual track as well. Some go up, some go down, theres wind directions and speeds, air quality, temperature, elevation, all kindsa excuses for why my cars so slow! Besides the obvious.

2001 SS last week, with NOS went 12.4.

On another note, a 2002 corvette (mods unknown) ran 10.3.
I'm not really sure how.

You guys need to find some LS1's piloted by better drivers!

My stock run was 13.5---seems like the norm for a LS1/auto. BTW its faster now. Track times to come.

There is a guy on another board who went 13.0@108 with a 2.1 60' on a bonestock 2002 WS6 6-speed. And it only had 1200 miles on it. Also those motors come alive when u put some miles on them. They are all low 13 second cars, it just depends on whos driving.

13.53 @ 104.5 when stock for me. I had definite traction issues...never figured out how to get the stock setup to launch hard with the M6. Best 60' was 2.2!

I ran my roommate's completely stock '99 Formula M6 also, and the best I could do was a 13.9 @ 103.5 on more 2.2 60's Both of those were driver limited...i'm certain my car could have done 13.2's stock with a good 60' time.

However both those are '99s. I have seen several '02s run 13.3 and less. For the record, they are definitely stronger than previous years. They've got the new cam (01+), LS6 intake ('01+), LS6 block (half-way thru '01), no EGR ('01+) and I think i'm forgetting something else that's changed. Seeing lots of cars dyno 320+ rwhp stock, while the '98-'00s were doing around 300.

FYI...I have a 99LS1 6 speed car..With only removing the mass air screen and taking the airfilter out..it has gone a best of 12.74 @109.97..with a 1.95 short time...not all run this well..But do not under estimate these cars..If i didnt have so much in my 3rd gen..id be building a LS1 :hail:
