I remember heading out to Doty with them and they were all talking about how this guy was barely on it even with his competition spotted really far out.

That license plate is definitely South Carolina. Notice the large palmetto tree in the center. It's the clearest in the last shot fom the rear. I just had to clear that fact up.

Cool drag car though, I wish I knew the guy.

That cars for sale

"240z" a user from Chitown said that the T/A is for sale as a roller for $6000.00. Car is very nice (as you can tell) and has a lot of nice parts. When that car was at the Chaos, it definitely ran well!

I looked for his Email address on www.chitownracing.com but was unable to find it. Chitown uses a form to submit an email. I emailed him and I will let you know when he responds.

How streetable are you talking. I'm building a '91 RS with the target et being in the low 8s. Don't think that it is going to be even close to being "streetable." What is your combination? If you don't mind me asking. Also, I'm interested in the parts list for the rack and pinion setup. Email me at bjm323@yahoo.com.

Parts list is on www.nescaracing.com for sale page

When the car had a 454 in it, I would average about 200 miles a week in the summer. same rear suspension. I will agree that since going to the 632 the street days are limited. New Combination: New 632" BBC with pontiac big chief heads, single 1250 dominator and fogger N2O system on a brodix big duke manifold. Powerglide trans with 4,000 stall converter to 9" ford rear w/ 4.11 gears. rear tires are 16x32 gy slicks or 21.5x33 MT sportsman tires. this the third drivetrain in the car and each one seems to get more radical and less streetable.

I can't tell from the pictures, Is that a 25.1 backhalf? I trying to run mid to low 8s. My engine is a Keith Black aluminum block 447, Dart 320s ported by FasttimeMotorworks. Victor intake modified for FAST injection and dry flow NOS fogger. Powerglide with Neal Chance 4000 stall convertor. Ford 9" with 4.56 or 4.88 gears. I know I'm going to have to spray it hard. Old style 10.5w car. No backhalf. Just 4-link with original sub-frame still there. Think I have a chance?? Motor is 4.350 bore 3.750 stroke. I know I'm behind the times but I can only build it a little at a time. By the way beautiful car.

None of this was built in a day

In fact it took 8 years. As I said earlier, this is the third drivetrain in the car. I would have liked to have started with the 632, but I wanted to run the car with limited $. started with the 454 (all I could afford at the time) saved parts for a 540, built that and ran it for two years, at the time (1999) a nitroused 540 was in the game for englishtown Q8, but since then the times have dropped a half second from 8.40s to 7.90s (average). I could have sprayed the 540 to death, but sold it and stepped up to the 632 (used). Regarding your other question, the car is not 25.1C. Believe it or not the car is a home built back half using Ed Quay components. We built the car like an NHRA super stock car (factory floor, firewall and complete interior including factory dash and tilt steering). With lights, alternator, CD player and a 16 gallon fuel cell it isn't a trailer queen either. I have some new motor pics from this weekend that I will post later today.
Dan

btw, check out www.nescaracing.com Particularly the Q8 page for 4 more 600"+ third gen F bodies. John Schroeder (615"), Tony Ammons (615") , Richie George (588"), Jorge Rodriguez (648")

BJM 323, take a look at chuck samuels (fast times) purple 92 camaro Super street car mini tubs, 4 link, 450" bbc on nitrous 7.80s all day. the key that I found out is that a smart racer/tuner is always faster that some idiot with too much $$ that doesn't have a clue where to start. buying the stuff is easy, making it work is what separates the fast guys from the big $ teams. Remember terry robbins winning orlando 10.5 three years ago? box nova with ladder bars in a 100+ car field of 600" 4 link cars. A lot can be learned from the outlaw 10.5 guys about how to go fast without huge $$.

Yeah, Chuck was running a 450 cu. in. One big difference though. He was running a big bore, little stroke motor with Big Chief heads. I wished I had went that route. I started this car 4 yrs. ago. Just buying parts as I could afford them. Not getting very far as I am not getting any overtime for 2 yrs now. Hey, I been to your site. Is it still under construction? Can't seem to find the page you are talking about. As for the for sale section, the big block information page keeps coming up. Also, can't find the information on parts for switching to a rack and pinion. Are you running Ed Quay headers on the car? Those are the headers I have. Terrible news about Steve Grebeck. He was the man when it came to street legal racing. He is going to be missed by all. May he rest in peace.

link fixed, sorry

I was running the Jack Davis headers, I think they fit better on the BBC combo. The big bore short stroke will give you some very high revs, but will cut the torque. On a nitrous motor, I would rather use the torque and keep the revs under 8,000 rpm. The steering assembly for sale is a manual steering box (S10) ed quay idler arm and ed quay bumpsteer kit with centerlink that I took off to put in the rack.

the formatting may be tough to read, or recheck the link @ www.nescaracing.com/forsale

I used to have all the Ed Quay stuff on my car. I didn't like the fit of anything. What k-member are you running now? I purchased a PA racing crossmember with rack mounts. I agree about the torque but I can't have too much torque with a small tire car. Hopefully, I will get most of the car done this year and be ready to go by fall. What are you using for struts up front? I was thinking of going with AJE double adj. with 3" travel. The only problem with that is they are a little expensive. What is the weight of your car? Right now I'm in the process of cutting anything unecessary off. Hoping to get the weight down to 3000# with me in it.

The K is PA racing

the PA k member is an extra deep drop center for oil pan clearance (I run a dry sump). the rack went in relatively easily. I tried an AJE K and couldn't get it to fit (sent back). I am estimating the weight @ 2,900 lbs plus my 200lbs. I will scale this weekend and see. not bad for an all steel BB car with oem glass. I have about 75 lbs left of easy stuff to change/cut before it gets expensive. looked @ the AJE struts , ask what cartridges they use (gabriel non -adjustable ) . two problems: 1. with a narrow tire car like yours you may want/need more extension than 3". 2. A mustang crashed @ the nsca opener @ palm beach two weeks ago when both AJE struts broke in half at the top end of the run at 160mph!. I looked into Santhuff struts last year : spindle mount with wilwood brakes and A arm kit for $2,200, a better deal if your class allows full on spindle mount struts. Santhuff valving is better than anything short of a Lamb strut. I am using Koni orange / red SPA1 struts with a PA coil over kit and they work OK for now. (bought used)

Thanks for the 411 on AJE. The only requirements are that the front suspension be that of bolt on only. When using the Santhuff struts, would you have to weld the upper mount to the cage front bars? I see that is what the Pelech Bros. are using in their Camaro. I have a set of Lakewood 90/10 with Morrison coilover kits and lower control arms now. Somehow, I think I'm going to need more adjustability in the front suspension with a small tire car. Also, I figured I could lose some more weight going with a different strut setup.

Santhuff struts can be ordered for a true bolt in

Santhuff struts can be ordered for a true bolt in, they will meet all class requirements for factory mounting points. In hindsight I should have gone with the santhuffs. The morrison kit is excellent but pricey. I have no use for 90/10s on anything faster than an 11 second car. Truechoice makes an excellent double adjustable koni-based strut for F bodies but @ $400 each they aren't cheap.

9.0L Firebird, Do you have any information on the Santhuff struts or a website or number for someone to call that would know what I need? I think I might be interested in the wing you have. Why aren't you using it? Think I would need it for my application? I think it can only be 12 or 13" from transition point on the body. The $2200.00 price you referred to on the struts, did that include the brakes and a-arms?

Santhuff has a business card ad in the back of every National Dragster. no website. The $2,200 price was (last year) for struts, coil over springs, wilwood single piston caliper brakes, and an A arm kit (you make). You will need an overall strut length (measure the spindle to the to attachment point @ ride height). the wait was about 6 weeks and was made to order. just bear in mind that this is hardcore racing stuff, so if you are looking for a bolt on with no welding or fabricating keep looking, this isn't it.

The wing was bought from another racer. I went with the Ed Quay wing. When you get over 160mph, wings need to be supported in the middle. the strut kit was $150, a new adjustable wing with struts was $325 so I bought a new one. I believe the wing for sale is 12" off the decklid (relatively small).

Other than the a-arms, what other welding(fabricating) has to be done? Will the strut will still attach to the stock upper mount? On a previous post you stated santhuff struts can be ordered for a true bolt in application. I don't mind the fabricating, just trying to find the best suspension for the car. From what i gather, you would recommend a different wing?

you will have to make A arms. Not a job that I have done before. I can do basic mig welding, but tig welding a set of A arms is beyond my skill set. Your best bet is to call Santhuff and get the info direct. The wing will work, its a question of how fast you intend to go (MPH) and what your budget will allow for.

Well, the budget is starting to wear a little thin. I plan on being around the 160 to 165 mph range. Could I add the struts to the wing later on down the road? Also, do you have the number for Santhuff? I do not get National Dragster. Thanks again.
