Re: making center of front k member removable
got a new set of .030 over moly rings on the way second day air so they should be here right after xmas.
hoping i can get this thing together and back in the car next weekend barring any other issues
soon as this engine is done im going to send out my roller block for machining as a spare engine for this coming years drag season
.030 over dish pistons
vortec heads
vortec hsr
roller cam
was going to put it in my silverado but im going to do the build super chevy i think it was did with a vortec headed 406 and put that in my truck instead, then the thing might have some much needed towing power lol

Re: making center of front k member removable
rings will be here tommorow , unfortunatly when i went to rebuild the heads i found out the bronze guides were trashed int/ex valves both have so much clearance i can move the valves around dam near 1/8 inch
only gm heads i had laying around were some 305 450 castings , and some 350 624 castings , and one set of 882's
with the money id have to spend + my time porting any of the above heads i just broke down and bought a set of 200cc 64cc chamber aluminum heads
i dont know if im going to port them other then some real mild cleanup as they flow good out of the box as cast
now that i have good heads the tpi had to go for sure just no way around it , hsr intake is also on its way
this should make a pretty killer combo when coupled with the twin gt35r turbos
my only regrets about the combo at this point is i wish i knew before i ordered the cam i was getting theese heads with my slpit set of rockers ill have .496/.466 lift
with this new set of heads i would have went with something slightly more duration and about .575 lift w 1.5 rockers

Re: making center of front k member removable
so somehow i goofed up when figuring out the cr with the new heads , and its going to be 10.2-1 with my current flat tops and a .041 gasket ( opps lol ). so now im ordering up a new set of pistons , im not even going to buy forged ones going to get a 90$ set of Speedpro H423ACP's , theese are dished 4vr pistons with a 10 cc dish
theese are .020 down in the hole though so a .021 or .015 shim type gasket will be mandatory , ut compression will be back down in the 8.9-1 to 9.1-1 range
i fought off the urge to buy a set of bushed rods so i could use floating pins , but the more i thought about it the more i relized it wasnt worth the extra cost as ive already spent to much money on this thing

Re: making center of front k member removable
i can tomorrow im back home now i have the heads with me but no gaskets.
ill run over to the shop tomorrow and get the gaskets and post some pics . i need to check manifold fitmet on the block anyway as i think theese heads need a votec/raised runner intake, they are drilled for both vortec and standard intakes though.

Re: making center of front k member removable
so ive been doing more in depth research now that i have the heads in my hands, taking measurements and comparing these heads to a big brand name head that they are rumored to be copys of
these heads are infact dart pro 1 platinum copys , and can be ported out to flow well over 300cfm

Re: making center of front k member removable
i didnt exactly have the right gaskets on hand , but this is with a standard rebuilders gasket
lol those heads and valve covers will dwarf a tpi intake
theres just enough meat on the tpi intake to seal up the port but not by much
will it work with a standard sbc intake ...... u would have to check each intake to see if it would seal, the tpi does seal but i wouldnt use it , i would deffinatly get a votec tpi base or other vortec or raised runner intake
im going to send back my standard hsr for a vortec hsr , though im still debating on a single plane efi and elbow or 4bbl tb setup

Re: making center of front k member removable
yay new pistons showed up almost time to get the motor 100% back together
hyper piston with 10cc dish , i need to knock off the sharp corners were the inner dish meets the valve reliefs as they look like a prime edge for a hotspot to develop
