Willow Springs Drag Night

I went out to Willow Springs Drag Night last night and had a great time. Just so everyone knows Willow Springs is a road course. They set up a drag strip on the main straight away complete with tree and timing system. It is supposed to be a 1000 ft but based on the time slips that my friends and I got its either longer or the the timing system is wrong. My best time was 12.94 which equates to like 15.5 in the 1/4 mile. Nope, even bone stock I previously was in the 14.5's. Plus, my friends 78 Camaro with a LS1 swap put down a dyno tuned 450hp to the rear wheels and he was running 11.7s all night which equate to 14.10. Even though the times are pretty much useless for figuring out 1/4 mile times it was still fun beating imports all night. There were 3 third gens at the track a couple of 4th gens and a bunch of 5th gens, needless to say Camaro's were out in force. Check out the link to me beating the 78 (he could not get any traction and he red lighted)

Unofficial setups like that can't be used for accuracy although some can be set up very accurate providing the track is long enough for a shutdown area. They're intended for a "have fun" atmosphere with a bit of competition. If you want 1/8 or 1/4 mile accuracy, you'll need to attend a dedicated dragstrip.

Yeah I'm not really complaining about the accuracy, lots of fun was had by all. The best part is it's less than 2 miles from my house and every two weeks all summer. I will definitely be going back but I'm also making plans to hit Famoso's Friday Night Drags!

I bet it was a nightmare for anyone that came toting 400+rwhp trying to stick. A blast none the less!

Oh yeah, there where a couple of cars that either had to ease into the throttle or they were spinning the wheels and sliding around all over the track.
