Re: battery disconnect switch
I run my wire from the alternator to the battery. Then I run the battery to the switch, and switch up to the starter. This way, all current from the alternator has to pass through the switch.

Re: battery disconnect switch
Simply disconnecting the battery will not kill an engine in an OEM setup. The alternator is backfeeding into the system so the ignition etc is still getting power.
Best way is to run the main power wire off the back of the alternator all the way to the battery power post or input side of the kill switch. Master switch turned off will kill everything including power to the alternator which is keeping your car running. It should be at least 10 gauge but 8 gauge is better. You will have 2 wires running to the battery. Main power and alternator power.
Master switch needs to disconnect the positive cable from the battery.

Re: battery disconnect switch
my battery isnt remote mounted but i changed the wiring on my car since the po hacked the wiring to hell.
i put the alternator feed wire on the same relay as my ignition coil, kill the switch that controls the relay and the engine shuts off , if the battery was in the trunk and somone hit the battery disconect using this method it would also shut down . then u have no need to run the alt charging wire to the trunk

Re: battery disconnect switch
Yes, the switch kills the car as of present. The alternator and battery are on the same side of the switch. The wire to the starter and everything else is on the other side of the switch. All current from the battery and alternator runs through the killswitch.

Re: battery disconnect switch
I use relays in mine. When the master switch is turned off, relay power for the ignition and alternator field are disconnected and everything electrical in the car is killed.
