not much 2013 success...9.88 still fastest
Well guys..
I've been out 3 times this season bracket racing, and had some issues.
1st..i was running old mickey radials and has real inconsistent 60' and 330' times.
Now...i swapped them for hoosier 275s on 15x9 draglites...yesterday i pulled out the 80# weightbar from rear of car and readjusted shocks...
WITH travel limited i ran a 9.93 launching almost on the bumper... 9.88 with some more travel pulled out...then put it 2" from rear bumper and when it hit the track beat up the mufflers pretty bad and i aborted the run.
That was 2nd round and i had an. 017 light to his . 152 but i didnt want to kill the car.
Btw..i run a Pro Dial class...bracket racing on a .500 pro tree.
These are with the mickeys LAST month...

Thanks....if we keep the front end down it should go in the high 9.7x range with a 29.9-30.0 baro and good air at sea level.
I guess its finally time to swap out the 90/10 lakewood struts for some adjustable...before we throw the plate on it...

Lol. Explosion huh? No videos to date...
With a 200hp shot we're hoping to go a 8.90-something yes.
Really trying to speed it up on motor before we risk blowing it up. Lol

Thanks...its got spohn coilover setup on old 90/10 koni struts and travel limiters....pa k member and stock a arms on front...spohn t/a and rear suspension.
The cam/carb/converter really make the 60' work...we went 1.32s in 60' with 4.33 gears...switched to 4.56 gears to improve et and cant keep the front down enough to go faster than 1.31.

Hahaha...i didn't take as an insult. Lol
Only shifting at 7200rpms...for now.
This winter we may go from 355 inches to 413"...and get a new cam to spin 8000...and run 9.10s
We will see...

Re: not much 2013 success...9.88 still fastest
ive been thinking about installing 4:56 gears. the best 60 ive had to date was a 1.37. right know im getting 1.40-1.41. i have 411 gears and shift at 7600rpm with a glide. im just not sure if i go 456 if it will come up short on the top end. but then again there is only one way to find out. outside of that our suspension set ups are pretty similar.

Re: not much 2013 success...9.88 still fastest
I know the glide realy kills 60'...its like leaving in 2nd with a th350...which mine goes 1.38-1.39 the couples times i tested it.
I was told by Rossler that glides were only beneficial for big hp power adder combos.
With a 434.id expect you to be much faster...even at 3300-3400 lbs (dont know how much your car weighs)....you should have at least 50-75 more lbs of torque than me...but like i said the glide coukd kill the first 330'.
No disrespect...just what i have seen.

non taken. i do agree with you. the glide was free. im sure a 350 or 400 and a little more gear would probably put it on the bumper. lol. this glide has taken a beating but doesnt seem to mind. once its done ill probably gone with a 3 speed. as of right now im pretty happy with the car. it runs 9.88-9.87 all day long.

That car is doing work man. You guys got any stick classes at Cecil?

Re: not much 2013 success...9.88 still fastest
getting it done for sure man.
Sounds like the th350 2.75 1st gear is becoming a bit short for your power, wonder how it would like the 2.48 in a 400 now?
I'm actually finally going the other way on the trans, stepping away from the 3-speed. Sticking with the 400 though, still ain't a glide guy.

Re: not much 2013 success...9.88 still fastest
I know 87 TA on here was having issues keeping vega off the bars with a th350. Going to a glide made it launch much better. Could leave higher on tbrake and still keep front end down and think it really inproved his times.
Perhaps a th400 first could help as suggested above?
That is one strong running 355 tho! Surprised its not turning 8000. Small cubes and stroke, have to wind them high to get any useful torque out of them but this one seems to have too much power lol

Re: not much 2013 success...9.88 still fastest
You can run any bracket class or index with a stick matt.
The trans has a 2.52 low gearset i believe now (its a $3500 lightened th350)...and final gear ratio is dead on as calculated now...
Im going to pull the limiters down some more and buy some dbl adjust struts i suppose.
The cam is only like 260@.050 with. 730 lift. And erson considers it a street cam. Makes decent mid range torque...as obvious by my issue.
Thanks guys...we're trying to make it a little faster...and i still only have these hooker 2210 headers that lost 17hp on the dyno from 1 7/8" dyno headers....

Re: not much 2013 success...9.88 still fastest
If you have the 2.52, then definitley not enough gearing difference to change, unless you were going with a steeper aftermarket gearset in the 400.
You know what to do. Tighten the front down some more & see what happens.

That thing is doing great. I keep telling them SBC guys to go hard or go home with the 350s. Trying to tell them to wind them up to make power, but they dont listen. They have combos that are dead after 6000 RPM.
