90 RS 1/8th mile 5.3 power
After finishing the 5.3 swap on my buddies 90 RS, we finally took a trip to the track and he wanted me to run it when we got there.
Unfortunatly I didn't know ahead of time so I didn't grab the ET streets.
Car has:
2002 5.3, unknow mileage
LS1 intake
Bbk shorty 4th gen headers
EGR is deleted of course
Otherwise she is a stocker.
Trans is a 2001 4L60 unknown mileage as well
Stock 2.73 open rear
This car has no suspension and was on pathetic 225/65/15s
My first and only good pass was 9.3 at 77 mph with a 2.3 60 foot.
Other passes I got more aggressive attempting to launch harder that resulted in loss of traction.
Runs well and could be allot faster with gears, converter, limited slip, but this is a cop friend that wanted a cruiser and got what he wanted. Still need to finish cleaning up wiring but beyond that he drives it as much as he can.

Sounds about right. Thats about a 14.5 in the 1/4. A tune will help get things optimal. Gears would be a big help. But then again my buddy's stock ls1/4l60e camaro with 2.43's and a tune ran 13.6. Sounds like a fun cruiser though.

That was the intent. If he buys my 3.42 LSD, we will go back and see how much it helps.

Cannot remember if i saw a thread on it. You take it to the track yet? Only issue we are having is first start up. Have to throttle it for a second so it will take over and idle the engine for some reason.

ok, dug up the old time slip. his car went 9.62@76 and 14.68@98. the cars are basically identical. ls1 intake, fbody manifolds, stock 4l60e and converter, 2.73's, etc. his has 317's and is down on some torque. it went 2.1 sixty dead hooking, lol.

Ah, there is the difference. The shorty headers are a couple ponies and the large chambers on you lil bros are holding back a touch. 60 foots. Ether than this one though. We got a 2.2x. He surprised me when we got there wanting to run it. Sticky tires and a driver that isn't 310 pounds may knock off a tenth, lol.

Thought about popping the tpi intake lid from the mass air too, but didn't feel like messing with it. I hear it holds 10-15 ponies back, but idk on this setup.

Re: 90 RS 1/8th mile 5.3 power
We are using the stock 5.3 tune, but of course we tunes out the EGR and VATS, ect ect. The 6.0 swap from a 01 GMC 3/4 ton into a 96 Silverado idles perfect on start up, so it has us confused. Still learning the EFI thing.
