Video of my 85 IROC 1/4 mile passes

Decided to change the oil, plugs, check timing and slap on some OLD worn down 275/50/15 MT drag radials on my stock lsd stock 3:42 geared 10 bolt with a swap meet diff cover and s&w race cars torquearm and sfc's, tubular lca's , kyb AGX's all the way around, and a RMVB TH400 and a canfield headed 406 powered 85 IROC.
Had horrible traction issues with a 1.88 best 60' and a best 11.34 @124 foot braking at 2000 rpm and shifting at 6200 rpm. Has a little more left in her. Going to get some trick springs and some 90/10s and some 275/60/15 mickey drag radials and hope to pull a 10.99 actually stalling to 2800 and shifting at 6600

I had to use the IG app to add light but here it is when we just wired it up to start it the first time around. Still need to tuck some things here and there

Slapped eveything together before heading out. Still need to build a aluminum dash bezel to inlay the gauges, tach and fuel gauge. Still had all the OEM Conteur interior in it. Going to put a cage, take out the center console and slap two kirkeys in it.

Re: Video of my 85 IROC 1/4 mile passes

Here are the three time slips from Friday nights runs. I wanted to post them so you can see the horrible sixty foot times. I'm going to be ordering the new extreme Mickey Thompson 275/60/15 drag radials and hope that will help out a little. I think with putting the battery out back and the trick springs and some 90/10's up front and maybe even some 50/50's out back with some v6 springs I can get a 1.5X 60' and lift the tires just a little bit.

Re: Video of my 85 IROC 1/4 mile passes

Nice car...not a bad start. Keep in mind the new mickey radial is like 9 lbs heavier than the original.

The hoosiers are lighter.

I would suggest (for what its worth):
-dont waste time or money on the trick springs
-consider replacing the trans with a th350(will be lighter and faster)
-get a higher stall converter!!!!
-obviously you need more gear and rear...but i didnt have to say it.

Thats 10.80ish mph if you fix the car to work better together...converter and gear with the right tire and carb will run 10s if you want.

Good start!!! And good luck!!

Re: Video of my 85 IROC 1/4 mile passes

I really don't want to spend the money on swapping the tranny since it came like this and considering I only paid $1600 for the car without the motor. I plan to swap this motor in to an s10 and then do a blow through 355 for this car just to run around town and maybe some track action. Maybe I'll just put a set of new drag radials on it and see where it takes me. The stall is a 3200 stall but I'll roast the tires if I stall above 2000 rpm. You can see the tires I'm running in one of the pics. I appreciate all the advice though.

Re: Video of my 85 IROC 1/4 mile passes

Solid roller 406 with canfield heads super vic jr with quick fuel 750 cfm carb. I literally bought everything on the motor from craigslist, hot rod gossip, swap meets and ebay. i bought the motor from a mud racer buddy of mine. Suposedly makes a little over 500hp

Just bought it as a side project and eventually put it all together.

Very nice, and man do I love the sound of a solid roller.

If you remove the console post up some pics, I'm planning on doing the same and I'm curious to see how yours turns out.

I plan on copying this guys set up minus the gated shifter, I like ratchet style. I think its absolutely perfect for my needs. I plan on doing the kirkeys but I'm not doing the bird cage. Just a 10 point cage.
