First time at track, 91 Z28 305 times inside

I went to Sacramento Raceway last night and I got six runs in which I guess is alot. My best three times were:
Reaction: .652
60':
330': 6.334
1/8th: 9.587
mph: 74.583
1000': 12.368
ET: 14.745
MPH: 94.521
60' timer was knocked out by 1/4 mile bowling

Reaction: .703
60': 2.203
330' 6.205
1/8th: 9.492
mph: 77.146
1000': 12.291
ET: 14.714
MPH: 90.544
I don't know why my mph was so low I guess I could have hit the brakes early or something.

Then I had my best run:
Reaction: .650
60':
330': 6.206
1/8: 9.491
mph: 77.239
1000': 12.287
ET: 14.687
MPH: 96.449
60' timer was out still.
All these runs where made with me shifting the auto and launching around 1000 to 1200 rpm.

My other runs were 14.881@93.154 with a 2.282 60', 14.832@94.568 with a 2.342 60', and 14.865@94.099. I just wanted to know what you guys think about my runs what I could do to improve them. I know my 60' times need help what could I do? What mods would help me out the most?(on a budget I'm a college student) I am totally hooked now and can't wait to go again with some new mods. Thanks in advance.

excellent... very good. Those times in a thirdgen translate into at least 240hp/315+ tq.
On these single cat 305 TPI cars, the stock manifolds are a huge bottleneck. Sounds to me like you bolted on a set of headers, and your car's ***** dropped. I gotta get some damn headers... btw my best time was 14.9@93.27mph last year, with the mods on my sig minus the tranny stuff and base porting.
I'm curious, how are you launching? Are you just flooring it off the line, or what? I can't break out of 2.3 60 foot times, it's killing my ETs.

Thanks. I would definetly put some headers on it made a huge difference and it sounds awesome. My launches were horrible in my opinion I spun pretty bad considering I have sphoon lca's. What I did was put it in 1st bring up the revs to about 1200 rpms and then pretty much floored it. I should have tried to ease on the throttle but I guess I got to excited being my first time. I'm going to go back this week with my new homemade cold air kit and try to better my times with some better launches.

I ran tonight a gateway in east st.louis,ill. 14.83 at 92mph my car is all stock and has 180,000 miles on it. The engine and trans. were freshened up 50,000 miles ago. So i think your 305 did real good.

Casey I think that with the mods that you have if you got a custom chip, ported your heads(AFR's if you can afford them) and a new cam you may be looking at high to mid 13et's. JMO

You guys get some grip and have 60's of 2.0 you guys would beat up on most of the 350's around here. They say moding a 305 is worth it.
