Why Did My MPH Vary?

I went to the track yesterday and wasn't happy with the results mostly due to poor traction (2.3 60 fts when I usually hit 1.80's).
Anyway my mph ranged from 94 to 100 mph. Does anyone's mph vary thar t much? And if so why.

you hook from the line can greatly effect your mph. especially when you are talking about being as far off as you were. if the tires are spinning the car is not using the whole track to accelerate.
if there is a little wheel spin, sometimes people will see a slightly higher mph. the more you spin the more your mph will usually be off though.

Your MPH can change for alot of reasons. I've found that 60ft doesn't change MPH all that much. When you spin your engine get up higher and accelerates faster. When you dead hook it pulles your engine down accelerating slower. It almost evens out. The biggest reason for MPH changes is changes in horsepower. This is mostly related to air quality and quantity. See if you can figure out if you may be running out of air. This could be to high RPM, high restriction air filter, or even poor aerodynamics.

And a 350 TPI runs out of air at 4500 to 5000
