EFI car, 1/4 times get slower as car gets warmer, what to do about dial-in??

I am considering trying to do some real racing instead of just T-N-T all the time (low roller, 35 bucks to enter)

The problem I have is that my car is a fuel-injected automatic, and it gets consistantly slower the warmer it gets. I can reduce the temperature increase with fan switches, trans cooler, etc. but it will still be there.
I usually ice the intake between runs to cool the car off and also let the trans sit and cool down. The problem is as bracket elims go on, the time between runs gets shorter and shorter, so my car gets slower!

Should I set a higher dial in and try to let off on my cool runs to slow down, or should I try and keep the car warm all night?

you should get a good tranny cooler mounted where the fan can help cool it between runs. you may also want to look into an electric water pump. wire to come on when the key is in the run position(just to a switched power)and put a second switch on the fan so you can turn it on manually when sitting in the lanes. with the water circulating it will cool the engine off much faster.
getting the tranny to cool down all the way between rounds is something i haven't figured out yet. the best advice i can give on that is to find the biggest cooler and largest diameter lines you can find. the more fluid volume is has the more temp it can drop just sitting.

hope this helps

That's the nice thing about bracket racing. It's not heads up and you can dial in whatever you think the car is going to run. If the car starts to slow down then you change your dial in to how slow it's going to be. If you make it into the final few rounds, they don't give you a lot of time for cool downs so you'll have to know how fast you run when the car is hot as well.

All everyone sees on TV is the top classes of drag racing and people don't realize how hard a bracket race really is. All they see is heads up racing and whoever gets to the end first wins. If you notice that classes like top fuel, funny car and prostock all run very close to the same ET in each class. These cars are so setup identically in each class that it's only the body style that sets them apart.

At least in a bracket race, your 14 second Camaro may go against a 16 second pickup or a 18 second Firefly. Each has an equal chance of winning since speed means nothing.

Dial-in slower as you need to.
