ok I g-tek'd....what is wrong?

Here is the deal: I was tested by gtek to have 248 bwhp and running 14.02 at 102.5 mph. This was with my 190 lb friend in the car and driving to the destination for half hour, as well as the trunk not allowing me to close it . Does this sound right? I had a great little 700R4 built for me with a shift kit, corvette servo, 1800-1900 stall converter, and a new high performance catalytic converter. The rest of my mods are a ZZ4 motor, (with stock tpi), edelbrock headers, flowmaster, chip, k&n, gutted airbox, tb coolant bypass. I also have 2.73 gears. I'm concerned about the time because I did some of these changes (the minor ones, excluding the tranny rebuild) after I ran a 13.6 at the track last year, but that was on Nitto's. Should I run faster (mph) without my friend in the car too? Help!

well your friend probably cost you .19 seconds. The Gtechs are a little off also. I cant believe you are running such a modified car and only running 2.73 gears. our car will seriously wake up if you swap those out for lower ones.

My ZZ4 was carbureted ('68 El Camino) and had a lot more Hp and rpm potential then your TPI setup does. My setup was nearly optimized with 3.73 gears and 2500 stall. I would suspect that your car would work well with 3.50 gears and 2200 stall. If you ever open up your intake flow you will want to get a little more aggressive like my setup was. Keep in mind this is simply an estimate on my part based upon past experience but it's probably a great place to start.

Yeah, you need to do something. My TPI'd LG4 runs 14.5s w/ stock LG4 Heads and Cam.

They also say that every 100lbs cost you .1

I'd port the plenum and runners, get a bigger TB, and a Big Mouth lower intake.

Your stock TPI is whats holding you back.

My car has far less mods and I'm running consistent 14.0's at 100 with a best of 13.98 @ 100.

Just get it all dialed in.

i agree higher rear gears and bigger tpi system will show you tremendis gains. your zz4 is being held back a bit b/c of the stock tpi systemq

10lbs equals 1hp , so every 10hp is .1 sec? so if i lost 1000lbs(car not me) i would increase my e.t. by a full second? wow

A 100HP shot of NOS for my 4600 pound truck goes from 15.0 to 13.5. A 200HP shot won't make it run 12.0. Maybe 12.3's.

You can only remove so much weight from a car but it's all a matter of power to weight. A 500 HP, 3000 pound car can run 11's. A 200 HP, 1200 pound dragster can also run 11's. Ever see a 6 cylinder dragster run 8's?

i'd have to agree in saying that your intake is choking you, by design(stock tpi) its done making power while that ZZ4 is still making power. my car ran a 14.12 @96(2.02 60 ft) with a tpi and broken TPS sensor. also g-techs are usually a couple of mph fast since they measure mph at the very end of the 1/4 rather than the last 60 ft measurement the tracks use.
try running around your block as fast as you can with a leadbelt on while breathing through a straw...you know how how your car feels
