Tire Pressure ?'s

Will lowering the tire pressure on street tires do any good. And if so, what pressure would be a good starting point? The reason why I ask is that one of my friends told me to drop the pressure to about 20 psi. He claims it would hook better. But does this work with sreet tires?? Thanks Again!

A radial street tire works best at 32-35 psi and no lower than 28.

Lowering the pressure in a radial tire gives less traction. The sidewalls are too stiff to roll over like with a drag slick or bias ply tire. Since the sidewalls are too stiff, the center of the tread will rise up instead. That is why when you have low tire pressure, the outside edges of the tire wear out faster.

Thanks for the help!! I'm running about 32 psi right now. I think I'm going to be hooked up with a set of DR's for this weekend. One of my friends has a 4th gen that has a set. Well see what happens!!! I'll probably still ease out of the gate, but come into the throttle a lot quicker. So hopefully I won't gernade anything!! Thanks again for the help Stephen!!!
