1/8 Mile Times (Long)

Well, I went to the track for the first time last Friday night. I ran six times and improved throughout the night. Here are the times: Ignore the reaction times

1st:
Reaction: .815
60ft: 2.569
330ft: 6.506
1/8 ET: 9.578
1/8 MPH: 80.93
This first run I had a friend ride with me to show me everything. He Told me to take it easyoff the line. I was so nervous, he said I dumped the clutch at over 3000 rpm's. Needless to say I spun through first and second gear.

2nd:
Reaction: .784
60ft: 2.563
330ft: 7.520
1/8 ET: 13.340
1/8 MPH: 35.94
This run I dumped the clutch at 2000 rpm's. I still spun through 1st and when I hit second, my car jumped sidways. Scared me to death so i coasted the rest of the way.

3rd:
Reaction: 1.307
60ft: 2.301
330ft: 6.081
1/8 et: 9.111
1/8 mph: 81.81
I learned you have to take off very slow!!! I have to ride the clutch a little and ease into the gas about half way down. Then you nail it.

4th:
Missed second gear. Lousy time!!

5th:
reaction: 1.250
60ft: 2.124
330Ft: 5.856
1/8 Et: 8.866
1/8 MPH: 82.54

6th:
Reaction: 1.027
60Ft: 2.030
330Ft: 5.665
1/8 ET: 8.630
1/8 MPH: 83.37

I kept getting better as I was learning to baby the throttle off the line and come to WOT faster. We plan to go back this week if the weather holds out. That last run was pretty good, but I would like to get my 60ft times down. However, I just don't see it running street tires. I use to post a lot here when it was on the old Missouri.edu server! If anybody can give me any insight for the next time I would be greatful!!
Thanks for your time!!

Once you figure out how to keep getting a good launch with a standard, you should be able to run 13.3's on a 1/4 mile. Dropping the clutch with a stock clutch, pressure plate and flywheel is just asking for trouble. They won't take it and you risk exploding somthing. If you intend on a lot of drag racing (we all get hooked) start looking at investing in a new complete clutch system.

I realize you're still trying to figure out how to launch but when you see the last yellow light come on, GO! By the time it takes you and the car to react, the green light will be on and you'll get better reaction times.
