Help with 1/4 estimate

This car use to run mid/high 16's last fall. Now ive done some head work, intake work, and a mild cam upgrade.

My question is in your opinions, what would you estimate this car would do in the 1/4 mile with good traction???

Im hoping some one says 15's is possible. I recorded the video from 0-80mph and it was a calm day with a completly flat road. Thanks for the input.. And ya its a V6 so dont laugh you V8' guys!

Ive timed it at 14.5 secs from 0-80mph give or take a tenth or 2.

Re: Help with 1/4 estimate

How did you "time" your car to get 14.5? If you used a stop watch your guess is probably waaaay off. By the time your eye sees something, your brain processes the information, and then sends the "command" to move your finger you have probably lost upwards of 5 tenths of a second... That means your car would be more realistically mid/high 15s...

If your basing this estimate off that video you could be even further off because the videos frame rate probably doesn't coincide with real-time.

When i got home after taking the video i loaded it on the computer and timed it that way. Listing for the engine to go( when i started ) and listened for "there it is" that i said when it was up to speed. And i was genourous with the #'s adding a few tenths to the total.

Re: Help with 1/4 estimate

Keep in mind that if your reaction is delayed at the beginning and then it is delayed second time you do something. So if you were 3 tenths slow starting the clock then youll be close to 3 tenths off at stoping it. So they off set (somewhat) and youll really only be a little ways off. a few tenths. That makes up for me spinning the tires every time i tried to launch.

No way you will ever get an accurate time using that method. Human reaction time as well as the video not being in sync with real time = your numbers are likely off on a big level.

You are much better off buying one of the older g-tech performance meters or if you have a smart phone, download one of those apps that use it's accelerometer to do the same... They'll give you by far the most accurate reading but nothing is as accurate as the drag strip...

ok thanks for the tips.. i really dont like gtech though... always says its faster then the car really does at the track..IMO But ill try and get a app for my phone today and see what those ## are.. I know what i was doing wasent to accurate but I just wanted a rough estimate if all that work i did to the car helped. Since it was a dogg V6.

Re: Help with 1/4 estimate

Ok i used dynolicious today( the app for a friends i-phone) and the best try.. 15.9 in the 1/4 mile at 84 mph.... I dont know it thats right or not but it took me 5 tries before i finally go some sort of traction. 0-60 said 8.1 seconds.. so just a little slower then what i timed on my phone manually.
